Group Stage

Group D

Freehold Twp. 3, Point Beach 1

Junior Gabe Bormolini, senior Sean Sparks and sophomore Greyson Fitch each scored a goal and the Patriots beat the Garnet Gulls to clinch a spot in the Shore Conference Tournament. Senior Nate Reiser assisted the game-winning goal by Sparks and junior Gino Castaneda assisted the goal by Fitch.

 

Group F

Barnegat 3, Freehold Boro 2

Sophomore Nate Scisco scored the deciding goal off a pass from senior Nick Ficorilli in the 29thand the Bengals beat the Colonials by scoring three goals in a span of five minutes of the first half.

Junior Riley Stolte assisted goals by junior Aiden O’Halloran and Donovan Paul, which came two minutes apart in the 25th and 27th minutes.

Klodian Jaku and Ade Franklyn each scored a goal in the second half to pull Freehold Boro within a goal.

 

Regular Season

Class A North

No. 3 CBA 2, Long Branch 0

Senior Phil Bodenski set up goals by senior Nick Vieira and junior Ryan Asadi in the first eight minutes of the match and those two strikes were enough to deliver the Colts a win over the Green Wave and an outright Class A North championship for the fourth straight season.

Bodenski initiated the sequence that led to Vieira finishing a touch from junior James Brady in the third minute. Five minutes later, Bodenski delivered the ball to Asadi for the second and final goal of the game.

No. 8 Howell 4, Holmdel 2

Senior Nick Turturro returned to action less than two weeks after spraining his ankle and made an immediate impact by scoring two goals and assisting one of two by classmate Kam Brown as the Rebels upended the Hornets.

Senior Lucas Hansen and junior Dom Poli each scored a goal for Holmdel, both of which came in the second half.

No. 7 Manasquan 3, Rumson-Fair Haven 2

Senior Brandon Kunz scored on a breakaway for the game-winner in the second half and the Warriors won a see-saw battle over the Bulldogs.

Manasquan jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a goal by senior Tristan Davalos-Guillen in the 14th minute, followed by an own goal.

Rumson rallied with two goals in a span of three minutes before halftime, with junior Bobby Tamashunas heading in a corner kick in the 30th and junior Bobby Quaglia burying a shot from the top of the 18-yard box in the 33rd.

 

Class A Central

No. 1 Colts Neck 1, Middletown South 0

Senior Kyle Moore converted a penalty kick in the 29th minute and the Cougars held on to beat the Eagles and clinch a piece of the 2024 Class A Central championship, which Colts Neck will share with Manalapan.

Wall 5, St. Rose 0

Sophomore Shane Womack scored two goals and seniors Ryan Anderson and Robert Keegan each added a goal and an assist to pace the Crimson Knights to a win over the Purple Roses.

Womack scored the only goal of the first half — a 32nd-minute strike off a pass from junior Matt Appel. Keegan scored off a pass from Anderson to extend the lead to 2-0 in the 47th and sophomore Kevin Anderson made it 3-0 on an assist from Keegan in the 59th. Womack picked up his second goal in the 67th minute off a pass from senior Andrew Vario.

Freehold Twp. at Middletown North – PPD, TBA

 

Class B North

Shore 5, Neptune 3

Senior Jadyn DeRosa scored in the eighth minute, assisted two more goals before halftime and scored the game-winning goal in the 60th minute to lead a Blue Devils win over the Scarlet Fliers.

Freshman Bryan Barbosa scored off DeRosa’s first assist in the 27th minute and DeRosa found sophomore Andreas Barrett for a finish in the 32nd minute. Barrett also assisted DeRosa’s goal in the 60th and junior Cooper Attaway capped Shore’s scoring in the 64th.

No. 6 St. John Vianney 2, Matawan 1 (OT)

Junior Mason Boles scored the golden goal midway through the first overtime period and the Lancers pulled out a win over the Huskies to clinch the Class B North title — St. John Vianney’s second straight season with a division championship.

Senior Anthony Marano smashed a volley from the top of the 18-yard box to tie the game in the 73rd minute, setting the stage for Boles to put away the game-winner after tracking down a through-ball from senior Kyle DiMarco.

Senior Nico Skeete scored off a pass from Sean Sobocinski to momentarily give Matawan the lead in the second half.

No. 9 Ocean 1, Raritan 1

Sophomore Connor Shaw scored the equalizer in the 60th minute off a pass from classmate Luciano Ibarra, but the Spartans settled for a draw that cleared the path for St. John Vianney to win the Class B North division title outright. Ocean finishes division play in sole possession of the B North public division championship.

Senior Pete Geoghan gave Raritan a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 17th minute off a pass from senior Travis Evernham.

 

Class B Central

Monmouth 3, Red Bank Catholic 0

Senior Rob Sherman and junior Lua Mendoca-Braga each scored a goal and assisted another to lead the Falcons to a win over the Caseys.

Mendonca-Braga opened the scoring, then set up Sherman’s goal that gave Monmouth a 2-0 lead. Alex Bylander capped the scoring with an assist from Sherman.

Red Bank 2, Ranney 1

Senior Trey Cummings scored two goals in the first half off long through-balls by classmate Jason Monge and the Bucs held on to beat the Panthers and clinch their first division championship since 1972.

Cummings staked Red Bank to a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute off a pass from midfield from Monge and scored again in the 25th on a nearly-identical set-up and finish from the right side of the 18-yard box.

Senior Saeed Torres cut Ranney’s deficit in half with a goal in the 60th minute off a feed from junior Eddie Magherini.

Keyport at Henry Hudson, 4 p.m.

 

Non-Division

Point Boro 2, Pinelands 2

Pinelands senior Dan DeMilio scored two goals in the second half and the Wildcats rallied to earn a draw vs. the Panthers.

Manchester 2, Brick 0

Senior Cody McLeod scored a goal in the first half and assisted one by junior Brayden Kurak in the second as the Hawks shut down the Green Dragons.

No. 2 Manalapan 4, No. 4 Toms River North 0

Junior Dan Altman scored both of Manalapan’s first-half goals and assisted a second-half goal by sophomore Gavin Halcomb to lead the Braves to a convincing win over the Mariners.

Senior Christian Laverde assisted the opening goal by Altman, who created the second goal by stealing the ball away in the Toms River North defensive third.

Junior Ethan Lustig capped the scoring off a long pass from senior Dylan Cassidy.

No. 5 Toms River East 4, Toms River South 1

Seniors Tommy Renkin and Rowen Joice each scored a goal and assisted one during the first half to help guide the Raiders past the Indians for their eighth straight win.

Renkin assisted a goal by senior Luke Bodziak in the 17th minute for Toms River East’s first goal, then scored the deciding goal off a pass from Joice in the 31st. Joice struck for his goal in the 36th off a pass from junior Aiden Reis and senior Billy Laudin capped the scoring in the 65th.

 

Tuesday, Oct. 8

Class B South

Lacey 8, Jackson Liberty 1

Junior Tanner Grozinski scored four goals to spearhead a Lions rout of Jackson Liberty. Freshman Paul Guerriero scored two goals as well, while sophomore Kenshin McHugh scored his first goal, which came in the third minute.

Junior Anthony Introna accounted for the other Lacey goal, while Dan Salazar-Lopez scored the lone goal for Jackson Liberty.

 

Non-Division

Asbury Park 2, New Egypt 0

Hermsley Louisius scored a goal in the first half off a pass from Isaias Villa Hernandez and Dain Salazar tacked on an insurance tally in the second as the Blue Bishops and goalkeeper Eli Flores blanked the Warriors.
