Group A
No. 10 Toms River East 8, St. Rose 1
Senior Tommy Renkin posted a hat trick and classmate Luke Bodziak produced two goals and two assists to lead the Raiders (2-1) to a win over the Purple Roses (1-4).
Senior Rowen Joice, junior Aiden Corapi and sophomore Evan Capetta each added a goal for Toms River East, with Joice also dishing out an assist.
Group B
Middletown South 1. Manchester 0
Senior Matteo Miglio scored the game’s lone goal and the Eagles (3-1) held on to top the Hawks (2-3) in the first group-play match played in Group B.
Group C
No. 9 Shore 3, Central 2 (OT)
Senior Jadyn DeRosa scored the golden goal in the final minute of the first overtime period and the Blue Devils (3-1) outlasted the Golden Eagles (2-1). Junior Cooper Attaway slid a pass to the left corner of the 18-yard box, where DeRosa tracked it down and fired the winning shot into the far left corner of the goal with 17 seconds remaining in the first overtime session.
DeRosa also assisted each of Shore’s first two goals to stake the Blue Devils to a 2-0 lead before halftime. Attaway finished a shot from close range off a corner kick by DeRosa in the 10th minute and freshman Bryan Barbosa scored his first varsity goal by heading in DeRosa’s cross in the 32nd minute.
Central tied it with two goals eight minutes apart in the middle of the second half. Senior Dillon Konfederak cut the deficit in half and classmate Jordan Benzon leveled the scored in the 63rd.

No. 5 Toms River North 4, Matawan 0
Senior Josh Brazier scored off an assist from classmate Frank Toledo for the lone goal of the first half and the Mariners (2-2) broke open the flood gates in the second to pick up a win over the Huskies (0-3).
Christian Caso extended the lead to 2-0 with an assist from fellow senior James Homyak and senior Christian Assante made it 3-0 by burying a direct kick. Sophomore Chris Ruggiero capped the scoring off a pass from classmate Luka Symons.
Toms River South 2, Freehold Twp. 1
Senior Anthony Johnson scored two goals, including the game-winner in the 75th minute to deliver the Indians (2-1) a win over the Patriots (0-5).
Johnson tied the game with a goal in the 12th minute, which came off a set-up by junior Jacob Myers. In the 75th, senior Caden Langan cross the ball into a scrum in front of the goal. Senior Noah Beaton knocked the ball clear of the crowd and Johnson pounced for the go-ahead tap-in.
Freehold Township jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a free kick by senior Michael Gorman — Freehold Township’s first goal of the season.
Group E
Brick Memorial 1, Long Branch 0
Sophomore Nate Stryker struck in the 13th minute for the lone goal of the game and the Mustangs (4-0-1) upended the Green Wave (0-2) for a huge result in SCT group-stage playe.
Ocean 2, No. 4 Southern 0
Senior Jacob Gomez converted a first-half penalty kick after drawing a trip in the box and sophomore Connor Shaw provided an insurance goal in the second half to help lead the Spartans (3-1) to a shutout win over the Rams (3-1-1).
Gomez cashed in on the penalty in the 26th minute and nearly scored two more goals. Six minutes after his goal, Gomez stole the ball in the Southern third and ripped a shot off the near left post. In the 71st minute, he worked his way for a one-v-one chance vs. the goalkeeper, but Ryan Schweigert made a sprawling save.
Shaw added the second Ocean goal by burying a shot to the far right corner on a bouncing ball near the edge of the 18-yard box.
Saturday marked the first time in five games this season in which Southern senior striker Aidan Donnelly did not register a goal. Ocean center fullbacks Leon Leon and Ryan Fernandez keyed the defensive effort and sophomore goalkeeper Matt Makower picked up the shutout.
Group F
Point Boro 6, Keyport 0
Senior Ty Friedman scored off punt by goalkeeper Adam Baker in the 25th minute and the Panthers (2-1) scored six goals in a stretch of 33 minutes to pull away with a win over the Red Raiders (0-1).
Jim Doles scored Point Boro’s second goal in the 30th minute, then assisted one by Alberto Boscolo-Cegion to cap the scoring in the first half.
Junior Luca Grammatico scored the first two goals of the second half off assists from senior Liam Shand and returned the favor by setting up Shand for the game’s final goal in the 58th minute.
Middletown North 3, Barnegat 1
Senior Josiah Stepney scored a pair of goals and freshman Giovanni Reyes collected his first varsity goal as the Lions (3-1) topped the Bengals (2-1) with three goals in eight minutes during the second half.
Reyes broke a scoreless tie with a goal in the 63rd minute off a pass from junior Cameron DelGrosso. Stepney extended the lead to 2-0 with a goal in the 67 off a Nick Dinella feed and junior Paulie Que set up Stepney’s second goal which made it 3-0 in the 71st minute.
Junior Riley Stolte got Barnegat on the board with a 35-yard free kick in the 79th minute.
Lacey 3, Freehold Boro 0
Junior Tanner Grozinski set up Lacey’s first goal, then finished one of his own 10 minutes later to spark the Lions (2-2) to a win over the Colonials (2-3).
Gronzinski fired a shot on frame in the 15th minute and senior Daniel Cardenas cleaned up the rebound for a 1-0 Lacey lead. In the 25th, Gronzinski buried a shot from the top-left corner of the 18-yard box.
Junior Anthony Introna finished off the scoring by collecting a through-ball from classmate Madden Mozal and knocking it in during the 79th minute.
Group G
Wall 8, New Egypt 0
Seniors Robert Keegan, Ryan Anderson and Jesus Chaves Fernandez each scored two goals and the Crimson Knights (2-3) coasted to a win over the Warriors (0-4).
Senior Griffin Lecorchik opened the scoring 25 seconds into the match to start a run of four goals in the first 3:45 of the match for Wall. Anderson scored 25 seconds later to give Wall a 2-0 lead before the first minute ended and Keegan scored twice in a span of 1:15 to make it 4-0 before the end of the fourth minute.
Group H
No. 8 Manalapan 4, Jackson Memorial 3
Junior Ethan Lustig completed a hat trick by scoring the tying and winning goals during the tail-end of the second half and the Braves (4-0) battled past the Jaguars (3-2-1) to remain unbeaten.
Lustig tied the game, 3-3, in the 65th minute with his second goal of the game. In the 76th, junior Jon Luz delivered a pass to Lustig for the finish and a 4-3 Manalapan lead that the Braves would not give up.
Lustig’s first goal of the game was also an equalizer, with the junior converting a pass from senior Joe DeLanzo to tie the game, 2-2, in the 30th minute. A penalty kick by junior Dan Altman in the 15th minute got Manalapan on the board after Jackson Memorial jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a goal in the first minute and another in the sixth.
Group I
No. 7 Manasquan 5, Raritan 1
Junior Cruz Farkas rolled up a hat trick and the Warriors (3-0) handled the Rockets (3-2) to open up the group stage of the SCT.
Farkas also set up the first goal of the game by Brandon DeAngelis in the eighth minute before scoring consecutive goals in the 18th, 35th and 48th. The first goal by Farkas came after a combination with and through-ball from senior Jorge Cruz Cruz. Senior Griffin Linstra set up the second goal with a through-ball and DeAngelis teed up Cruz for his third goal of the game.
Raritan scored its goal in the 70th minute on a finish by senior Eion Davis from close range, followed by Manasquan capping the scoring in the 78th with a goal from T.J. Walther.

Class B Central
Red Bank 4, Red Bank Catholic 0
Senior Alex Flores scored a goal in each half and the Bucs (2-3, 1-0) topped the rival Caseys (1-3, 0-1). Junior Carlos Segura-Trapp scored for a 2-0 lead in the 46th and senior Trey Cummings added a goal in the 52nd to go with his two assists.
