Shore 1, Brick 0

Junior Cooper Attaway scored the deciding goal off a feed from senior Joao Domingos Vieira to give the Blue Devils (5-2) a hard-fought win over the Green Dragons (1-5).

 

Group I

No. 3 Colts Neck 3, No. 9 Manasquan 2 (OT)

Sophomore Sean Moore scored the golden goal in the second minute of overtime and the Cougars (7-0) survived a late comeback by the Warriors (4-1) to win a showdown on undefeated teams.

Manasquan scored twice in the final seven minutes to erase a 2-0 deficit, including an equalizer by senior Braeden DeAngelis with 10 seconds left in regulation.

Colts Neck regrouped between the end of the second half and the start of overtime and went right to work. Sophomore Pedro Navorski beat a defender on the left side and slid a pass into the box. Moore settled between two defenders, juked the second defender after gathering the ball and buried a shot from the six-yard line to set off a celebration for the Cougars.

Moore also opened the scoring with a penalty kick in the 15th minute, which he earned by drawing a trip inside the box after gaining a step on a Manasquan defender. Colts Neck made it 2-0 in the second minute of the second half, when Moore chested a ball to the ground and senior Kyle Moore one-timed a 20-yard volley to the lower left of the goal.

Manasquan jumped back into the match on a 30-yard laser to the upper 90 by senior Cooper Daly with seven minutes left. In the final seconds of regulation, the Warriors earned a free kick from 35 yards out and with 10 seconds left, senior Cristian Gonzalez served the ball to the back post, where DeAngelis slammed it in with his head.

 

Regular Season

Class A South

Toms River East 2, No. 6 Southern 1

Senior Ethan Kelly scored two goals in the second half and the Raiders (4-2, 1-2) rallied from a one-goal deficit to upend the Rams (4-2-1, 1-1-1). Kelly scored the equalizer off a pass from classmate Luke Bodziak, then scored the game-winner off a set-up from fellow senior Tommy Renkin in the 73rd minute.

 

Non-Division

Monmouth 3, Freehold Boro 1

Senior Rob Sherman scored his 10th goal of the season and assisted each of Monmouth’s other two goals as the Falcons (4-1-1) scored twice in the second half to nail down a win over the Colonials (2-5-1).

Monmouth struck first when Sherman found sophomore Dario Dwomoh for a first-half finish, which Freehold Boro answered with a penalty kick by junior Ryan Dominguez.

Junior Luca Tvrdik broke the tie off a feed from Sherman and Sherman capped the scoring off a pass from senior Lua Mendonca-Braga.

Holmdel 2, Matawan 0

Senior Michael Wojie and sophomore Dom Poli accounted for the two goals and the Hornets (3-2-1) blanked the Huskies (0-6).

No. 1 Howell 4, No. 10 Middletown North 2

Senior Nick Turturro scored two goals and assisted another to lead the Rebels (4-1) to a win over the Lions (3-4).

Senior Kam Brown scored in the opening minute of a pass from Turturro and later assisted a goal by Turturro that capped the scoring in the 70th minute. Turturro added to the Howell lead in the 24th minute by scoring off a pass from fellow senior Quinn Mills and senior Tyler Borenstein extended Howell’s lead to 3-1 when he buried a direct kick in the 63rd minute.

Junior Cam DelGrosso scored both of Middletown North’s goals — one in the 60th minute to cut Howell’s lead to 2-1 and another in the 65th to pull the Lions within 3-2.

New Egypt 3, Keyport 0

Caden Stillson scored the deciding goal and junior Dylan Harper posted a goal and an assist to lead the Warriors (1-6) over the Red Raiders (1-3) for their first win of the season.

Harper scored to make it 2-0 and set up a goal by junior Bryce Giordano to cap the scoring.

No. 4 Ocean 3, Red Bank 0

Senior Ryan Fernandez scored two goals and the Spartans (5-1) and sophomore goalkeeper Matt Makower shut out the Bucs (3-4). Junior Lucas Renvoize scored the other Ocean goal.

Middletown South 3, No. 8 Marlboro 1

Junior Gian Luca Zito was the first of three different Middletown South players to score a goal and the Eagles (4-2-1) upended the Mustangs (4-2).

Nico Rodriguez scored the goal that proved to be the game-winner and senior Brendan Millevoi — playing in his first game of the season after sitting out five games as a senior transfer from CBA — added the third Middletown South goal.

Toms River South 2, Jackson Memorial 1

Senior Caden Langan redirected a shot by classmate David Mandica into the net for the golden goal in the second overtime period and the Indians (5-1) beat the Jaguars (3-4-2) to capture their fifth straight win.

Sophomore Brody Robillard gave Toms River South a 1-0 lead in the first half with a free kick that went off a Jackson Memorial defender and in after Toms River South senior Anthony Johnson challenged for the ball in the box.

Jackson Memorial pulled even on a goal by senior Alex Felicelli off a corner kick in the second half.

Barnegat 3, Red Bank Catholic 1

Sophomore Nate Scisco scored two goals and assisted another by classmate Nick Ficorilli to lead the Bengals (4-2) to a win over the Caseys (1-5-1). Joe Ficorilli played Scisco through the defense for the assist on the first goal and junior Ethan Yllanes assisted Scisco’s second goal.

Senior Andrew Torregrossa scored Red Bank Catholic’s lone goal on a penalty kick.

No. 2 CBA 2, No. 7 Toms River North 0

Senior Carlos Cano assisted first-half goals by juniors Ryan Asadi and James Brady and the Colts (4-3) handed the Mariners (4-3) a shutout loss. Asadi opened the scoring in the ninth minute before Brady made it 2-0 in the 22nd minute.

Wall 4, Rumson-Fair Haven 0

Senior Jesus Chaves-Fernandez gave Wall the lead with a goal in the first half and the Crimson Knights (4-3-1) erupted for three goals after halftime to bury the Bulldogs (3-3).

Chaves-Fernandez knocked in a rebound after an initial shot by senior Robert Keegan for a 1-0 Wall lead in the 35th minute. Senior Tanner Griffin gave the Crimson Knights an insurance goal in the 63rd minute and junior Griffin Lecorchick put the game away in the 72nd with a goal off an assist from sophomore Kevin Anderson. Senior Brody Burns capped the scoring with a goal in the 76th.

 

Non-Conference

Freehold Twp. 4, Trenton 0

Senior Sean Sparks scored a goal in each half and the Patriots (1-5-1) picked up a road win over the Tornadoes (2-3) for their first victory of the season.

Senior Bobby Lockard opened the scoring off a pass from junior Gabe Bormolini in the fifth minute and Bormolini then assisted the first Sparks goal in the 20th. Sparks scored again in the 61st off a pass from senior Peter DeSantis and senior Vin Brando capped the scoring in the 79th off a pass from Jake Weiss.
