We’re back with the Week 6 NuVision Resolve Shore Conference Football Player of the Week poll where we post nominees for the Shore Conference offensive, defensive and special teams Players of the Week and give readers the chance to choose who should take home the award based on their performance in the previous week’s games.

Shore Sports Insider will also select its own offensive, defensive and special teams Players of the Week for each of the Shore Conference’s seven divisions.

Read through each player’s accomplishments for the week and cast your votes. This week’s poll will close on Wednesday at 10 p.m.

OFFENSE

Jordan Angstreich, Sr., WR, Rumson-Fair Haven

-Set career-highs again with 10 receptions for 205 yards and a touchdown of 79 yards when the No. 2 Bulldogs defeated No. 3 Red Bank Catholic, 26-11, to clinch at least a share of the Class A North division title.

 

Liam Brosnan, Sr. RB, Point Beach

-Ran for 168 yards and a touchdown on 33 carries and added a 2-point conversion run in a 21-14 win over Keyport that gave the Garnet Gulls (4-2) their most wins in a season since 2019.

 

Lucas Burgos, Jr., RB, New Egypt

-Ran for 118 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries to help lead the Warriors to a 20-7 win over Buena.

 

Jack Cannon, Jr., QB, Holmdel

-Accounted for an astounding 520 yards of offense and six touchdowns with 352 yards and three touchdowns passing plus 168 yards and three touchdowns rushing to power the No. 7 Hornets to a 56-31 win over Raritan in “The Battle of the Border”.

 

Nick Cardone, Sr., QB, Freehold Township

-Completed 18 of 31 passes for a career-high 331 yards with two touchdowns and one interception and also ran for two touchdowns and a 2-point conversion when the Patriots secured “The Duke” with a 32-20 win over Freehold Boro.

 

Welman Crooms, Jr., WR, Matawan

-Averaged 8.8 yards per carry with 79 yards rushing and a touchdown on nine attempts in the Huskies’ 7-0 win over Ocean.

 

Jake Henehan, Sr., RB, Toms River South

-Ran for 178 yards and four touchdowns on 18 carries when the Indians rallied with 35 unanswered points in the second half for a 42-21 win over district rival Toms River East.

 

Aidan Kelly, So., RB/WR, Jackson Liberty

-Rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown on just five carries and caught a 4-yard touchdown pass in the Lions’ 42-0 win over Monmouth.

 

Aidan Lunn, Sr., QB, Manchester

-Completed 8 of 10 passes for 128 yards and two touchdowns and ran for a touchdown when the Hawks defeated Lakewood, 42-12, to clinch a share of the Class C South division title.

 

Amiere Massie, Jr., RB, Asbury Park

-Ran for a 54-yard touchdown and caught a 55-yard touchdown pass in his season debut to help lead the Blue Bishops to a 26-7 win over Keansburg.

 

Justin Rosato, So., RB, Middletown South

-Rushed for a career-high 104 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries in the Eagles’ 21-14 win over Long Branch. He also had eight tackles, was in on a sack and recorded two tackles for loss on defense.

 

Myquan Rush-Esdaile, Sr., RB, Barnegat

-Ran for 101 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries and rushed for a 2-point conversion that proved to be the difference in the Bengals’ 22-21 win over Pinelands.

 

Justin Silva, Sr., RB, Southern

-Ran for a career-high 142 yards and four touchdowns on just nine carries to lead the Rams to a 28-7 win over Lacey.

 

Nick Spanola, So., RB, Point Boro

-Rushed for a career-high 157 yards and three touchdowns on just eight carries and also recovered two fumbles on defense when the No. 4 Panthers won a 27-24 thriller over No. 5 Brick Memorial.

 

Abdul Turay, So., RB, St. John Vianney

-Set career-highs with 232 yards rushing and five touchdowns on 21 carries to lead the No. 12 Lancers to a 52-20 win over Manasquan to snap a three-game slide.

 

Luke Vernieri, Sr., RB, Donovan Catholic

-Had touchdown runs of 31 and 4 yards and caught a 79-yard touchdown pass to help lead the No. 9 Griffins to a 32-7 win over Jackson Memorial.

 

Jack Viola, Jr., WR, Middletown North

-Set career highs with 11 receptions for 205 yards and three touchdowns in the No. 6 Lions’ 33-7 win over Red Bank to improve to 6-0. His three receiving touchdowns tied a program single-game record.

 

Nazeer Whittaker, Jr., RB, Brick Memorial

-Ran for 120 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries an caught three passes for 47 yards and a touchdown in the No. 5 Mustangs’ 27-24 loss to No. 4 Point Boro.

 

 

 

DEFENSE

Kasey Bodin, Sr., DB, Matawan

-Intercepted two passes and recorded four tackles when the Huskies shut out Ocean, 7-0.

 

Gage Boyle, Fr., LB, Point Beach

-Posted three tackles for loss among his eight total tackles in the Garnet Gulls’ 21-14 win over Keyport that gave Point Beach (4-2) its most wins in a season since 2019.

 

Danny Breen, Jr., LB, St. John Vianney

-Recorded a career-high 18 tackles with 1 sack and 4 tackles for loss in the No. 12 Lancers’ 52-20 win over Manasquan.

 

Dylan Cohen, Jr., LB, Wall

-Made a game-high 11 tackles with two sacks and two tackles for loss to help lead the No. 8 Crimson Knights to a 7-6 win over Manalapan in a key Class C North game.

 

Aidan Healy, Sr., LB, New Egypt

-Intercepted a pass and made nine tackles with one tackle for loss in the Warriors’ 20-7 win over Buena.

 

Austin Jarvis, Jr., LB, Central

-Recorded 14 tackles, seven of which were solo stops, along with a tackle for loss and a forced fumble when the No. 11 Golden Eagles improved to 7-0 with a 10-7 win over Brick that clinched at least a share of the Class B South division title.

 

Jarairya Jean, Jr., LB, Neptune

-The Scarlet Fliers nearly upset unbeaten Shore in a 27-21 defeat and Jean was a major reason why with a game-high 18 tackles, two sacks and five tackles for loss.

 

Johnnel Johnson, Sr., RB, Barnegat

-Made 10 tackles with one tackle for loss and forced and recovered a fumble when the Bengals rallied for a 22-21 win over Pinelands.

 

Johnathan Kokotis, Jr., LB, Freehold Township

-Intercepted two passes and recorded 10 tackles with one tackle for loss when the Patriots defeated rival Freehold Boro, 32-20, to claim “The Duke” rivalry trophy.

 

Kurtis Mayer, Jr., DL, Manchester

-Recorded two sacks and finished with eight total tackles when the Hawks beat Lakewood 42-12 to clinch at least a share of the Class C South division title.

 

Carson Memmott, Sr., DB, Rumson-Fair Haven

-Snared a one-handed interception and recovered a fumble in the No. 2 Bulldogs’ 26-11 victory over No. 3 Red Bank Catholic. 

 

Colin Obser, Sr., LB, Point Boro

-Recorded 14 tackles, 1 sack, 2 forced fumbles and a safety when the No. 4 Panthers held on for an exciting 27-24 win over No. 5 Brick Memorial.

 

Messiah Odunsi, So., DL, Brick

-Posted career-highs with 13 tackles, 2 tackles for loss and 1 forced fumble when the Dragons nearly pulled off the upset in a 10-7 loss to No. 11 Central.

 

Tommy Schroeder, Sr., LB, Shore

-Tallied 15 total tackles (9 solo), 1 tackle for loss, 1 Sack, 3 forced fumbles and a fumble recovery when the Blue Devils rallied for a 27-21 win over Neptune to remain undefeated and clinch at least a share of the Class D North division championship

 

Brody Tooker, Sr., LB, Middletown North

-Made a game-high 13 tackles with two sacks and two tackles for loss in the No. 6 Lions’ 33-7 win over Red Bank to remain undefeated at 6-0.

 

 

 

SPECIAL TEAMS

Brendan Allen, Sr., K, St. John Vianney

-Kicked a 35-yard field goal and went 7-of-7 on extra points in the No. 12 Lancers’ 52-20 win over Manasquan.

 

Blake Caruso, Jr., K, Red Bank Catholic

-Connected on a Shore Conference-long 45-yard field goal during the No. 3 Caseys’ 26-11 loss to No. 2 Rumson-Fair Haven. He now has field goals of 43, 44 and 45 yards this season and is 18-for-18 on extra points.

 

Tony Credle, Sr., Wall

-Credle’s blocked extra point in the fourth quarter was the difference in the No. 8 Crimson Knights’ 7-6 win over Manalapan. 

 

Jack Marotta, So., K, Brick Memorial

-Kicked a 25-yard field goal and went 3-for-3 on extra points in the No. 5 Mustangs’ 27-24 loss to No. 4 Point Boro.

 

Brandon Mueller, Jr., K, Holmdel

-Went 8-for-8 on extra points in the No. 7 Hornets 56-31 win over Raritan to retain the “Battle of the Border” trophy.

 

Michael Nieves, Jr., K, Central

-Converted a 27-yard field goal in the fourth quarter that snapped a 7-7 tie and sent the No. 11 Golden Eagles to a 10-7 win over Brick that clinched at least a share of the Class B South division title.

 

Jack Sullivan, So., K, Point Boro

-Kicked field goals of 28 and 35 yards to help the No. 4 Panthers edge No. 5 Brick Memorial, 27-24, for a key Class A South victory.
