Central Jersey Group 4 Quarterfinals

(4) Marlboro 20, (5) Edison 1 (4 innings)

Junior pitcher Emily Gaudio struck out 10 batters and allowed just 3 hits and no earned runs as the Mustangs (13-12) exploded for 17 hits in a lopsided victory over the Eagles (14-7). Senior LF Sarah Huang went 3 for 3 with 2 doubles, 3 RBI’s, and 2 runs. Sophomore 1B Ashlee Chen was 2 for 2 with a triple, a double, a walk, 3 RBIs, and 3 runs. Senior 3B Adison Ditillo finished 1 for 3 with a double, 2 RBIs, and a run. Senior SS Aimee Notaro went 2 for 2 with a double, a walk, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs. Gaudio was 2 for 2 at the plate with a double and a walk. Sophomore C Reese Grinberg finished 1 for 2 with a double and an RBI.

 

South Jersey Group 4 Quarterfinals

(4) Southern 5, (5) Cherokee 4

The Rams (17-8) rallied from a 4-2 deficit heading into the bottom of the 7th inning to defeat the Chiefs (16-7) and advance to the sectional semifinals. Sophomore Maddy Duralek started the final inning with a walk before freshman 1B Isabella DeSanto reached 1st base on an error by the Cherokee pitcher. Junior CF Emily Zellman singled on a fly ball to right field to score Jillison and cut the lead to 4-3. Senior P Emily Evans then crushed a line drive to center field to score both base runners on a walk off double.

Evans finished 1 for 4 with the double and 2 RBIs. Zellman went 1 for 2 with a walk, an RBI, and a run. Sophomore SS Abigail Krill was 2 for 2 with a solo home run and a walk. Junior LF Kaedyn Lipowski went 1 for 3 with an RBI.

The Rams will travel to top-seeded Kingsway in the sectional semifinals in a game tentatively scheduled for Wednesday.

 

Central Jersey Group 3 Opening Round/Quarterfinals

(9) Matawan 5, (8) Middletown North 0

Junior pitcher Emma Kriegstein fanned 10 batters and allowed 4 hits and a walk in a complete game as the Huskies (12-10) knocked off the Lions (11-11) to advance to the sectional quarterfinals. Kriegstein also went 2 for 3 at the plate with a walk and 2 RBIs. Senior 3B Sienna Cali was 2 for 3 with a double, a walk, an RBI, and 2 runs. Senior C Madeline DeChristopher was 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Sophomore LF Devynn Whinna finished walked twice and had an RBI.

The Huskies will travel to top-seeded Steinert in the next round.

(3) Colts Neck 4, (11) Ewing 1

Junior pitcher Angela Sasso struck out 11 batters and allowed 4 hits, 2 walks, and 1 earned run as the Cougars (14-9) defeated the Blue Devils (10-9) to advance to the sectional semifinals. Sasso went 2 for 3 at the plate with a double and an RBI. Senior CF Ava Burns was 1 for 2 with an RBI. Freshman LF Adrianna Bryce finished 1 for 3 with an RBI.

The Cougars await the winner of Middletown South and Jackson Memorial in the sectional semifinals.

South Jersey Group 3 Opening Round/Quarterfinals

(4) Pinelands 10, (13) Toms River South 0 (6 innings)

Senior pitcher Elianna Meola fanned 7 batters and allowed 6 hits and 1 walk as the Wildcats (18-4) shut out the Indians (9-14) to advance to the sectional quarterfinals. Senior C Hannah Theuret went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs and 3 runs. Meola was 2 for 4 at the plate with a double, an RBI, and 2 runs. Sophomore 1B Kendall Falduto finished 2 for 2 with a double, 2 walks, an RBI, and 2 runs. Junior SS Madison Wilbert went 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Sophomore 2B Cassie Gould was 1 for 3 with a walk, an RBI, and a run.

(2) Clearview 6, (10) Lacey 4

The Lions (11-11) fell to the Pioneers (17-4). Lacey scored 4 runs in the top of the 3rd. Clearview matched them with 4 runs in the bottom of the 3rd and added 2 more in the bottom of the 5th. Senior C Madison Feldman crushed a 3-run home run to center field in the loss. Senior CF Samantha Kohout hit an RBI single.

 

Central Jersey Group 2 Opening Round/Quarterfinals

(8) Holmdel 4, (9) Spotswood 0

Junior pitcher Julia Henderson struck out 11 batters and walked just 2 batters in a complete game no-hitter as the Hornets (12-7) defeated the Chargers (13-13) to advance to the sectional quarterfinals. Henderson also had an exceptional day at the plate as she went 3 for 3 with a walk and 2 RBIs. Senior SS Avery Lewandowski went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 runs. Senior C Haley Dulow was 2 for 3 with a run. Freshman 3B Molly Debias was 1 for 4 with a run.

The Hornets will travel to top-seeded A.L. Johnson in a game tentatively schedule for Saturday at 11 a.m.

(4) Raritan 3, (5) Bordentown 2

Sophomore pitcher Payton Fleming struck out 2 batters and allowed 5 hits, 4 walks, and 2 earned runs as the Rockets (21-4) edged out the Scotties (15-9). Raritan scored their first run in the bottom of the 1st on a 2 out double from freshman 3B Lily Houlihan. Bordentown tied the game in the top of the 3rd. In the bottom of the 3rd inning, sophomore SS Holly Bellofatto doubled on a fly ball to left field to give the Rockets a 2-1 lead. Bordentown tied it one more time in the top of the 5th. In the bottom of the 6th, sophomore C Abigail Peter singled on a line drive to center field to make the score 3-2. Fleming walked the first batter in the final inning before retiring the final three to close out the victory.

Raritan awaits the winner of top-seeded A.L. Johnson and eighth seeded Holmdel in the sectional semifinals.

(6) Delaware Valley 1, (11) Point Boro 0

The Panthers (9-12) were eliminated by the Terriers (17-6) after failing to score a run in a hotly contested pitcher’s duel. Senior pitcher Dakota Palmieri allowed 5 hits, a walk, and just 1 earned run in the loss. Palmieri went 1 for 2 at the plate with a walk. Senior Ashley Palmieri and junior Cassidy Supplee also recorded a hit.

 

South Jersey Group 2 Quarterfinals

(4) Medford Tech 1, (5) Barnegat 0

The Bengals (18-7) fell to the Jaguars (18-2) despite a tremendous pitching performance from sophomore Gianna Gomez who struck out 15 batters and allowed just 2 hits, 4 walks, and 1 earned run. Three Bengals recorded a hit including junior SS Riley Schmidt, freshman 3B Brooke Rizzo, and junior CF Brianna Dato.

 

Central Jersey Group 1 Opening Round

(5) Shore 10, (12) South Amboy 0

Junior pitcher Dylann Lawrence allowed just 3 hits as the Blue Devils (16-8) shutout the Governors (8-9) to advance to the sectional quarterfinals. Sophomore Ayden Kampf went 3 for 4 with a home run, a triple, 3 RBIs, and 2 runs. Senior Morgan Shaftel was 2 for 3 with a double, 3 RBIs, and a run. Sophomore Peyton Waterman went 1 for 2 with a home run, a walk, and 2 RBIs. Lawrence was 3 for 3 at the plate with an RBI and 2 runs. Senior Angela Christopher went 2 for 3 with a walk, an RBI, and 3 runs.

The Blue Devils will travel to New Egypt in the sectional quarterfinals.

 

South Jersey Non-Public Group A Quarterfinals

(3) St. John Vianney 10, (11) Camden Catholic 0 (5 innings)

Junior pitcher Madison McDougall struck out 12 batters and allowed just 1 hit as the Lancers (17-2) routed the Irish (6-16). Freshman Olivia Lombardi went 1 for 3 with a double, 3 RBIs, and 2 runs. Sophomore Mia Favato went 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs. Sophomore Emma Fitterer finished 2 for 2 with a double, a walk, 2 RBIs, and a run. Sophomore Brynn Utter was 1 for 2 with a walk, an RBI, and 2 runs. Senior Nicole Giglio was 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run.
