Monmouth County Tournament Black Bracket

Quarterfinal Round

Middletown South 1, Holmdel 0

Middletown South edged Holmdel in a pitching dual between two of the Shore Conference’s top hurlers. Sophomore Riley Smith struck out 13 batters for Middletown South in the victory and Julia Henderson struck out 7 for Holmdel.

The lone run came after Celia Collings tripled to center field and scored on a single by Gianna Pancione.

 

Class A North

No. 4 Middletown North 8, Freehold Township 4

 

No. 2 Red Bank Catholic 8, No. 7 Colts Neck 0

RBC jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning and added three runs in both the 4th and 5th inning to improve to 12-1 on the season. Lily Hagan struck out 9 runs in the shutout victory. Grace Lombardi went 2-for-3 with a triple and two run scored and Brianna Santangelo hit a home run and drove three runs in for RBC.

No. 3 St. John Vianney 9,  No. 5 Marlboro 0

SJV jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the 1st inning and added four runs in the top of the 3rd to improve to 8-1 on the season. Madison McDougall struck out seven batters in the shutout victory. Emma Fitterer went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs and Mia Favato went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored for SJV.

Aimee Notaro went 2-for-3 and reached the 100 hit milestone for Marlboro.

 

Class B North

No. 10 Raritan 7, Monmouth 2

Raritan jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning and added two runs in the 3rd and 5th innings to improve to 12-1 on the season. Madison Regiec went 2-for-3 with a home run and 5 RBIs and Holly Bellofatto drove in two runs and scored three times for the Rockets. Katelyn Ruta struck out three batters on the mound and got two hits at the plate.

Erin Clancey doubled and later scored for Monmouth.

Matawan 11, Freehold Boro 0

After taking a 2-0 lead in the 1st inning, Matawan scored 8 runs in the 2nd inning to win their 7th game of the season. Hayley Maresca struck out 7 batters in the shutout victory and went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Matawan. Emma Kriegstein went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Isabelle Wiemer went 2-for-2 with a double and three runs scored for Matawan.

 

 

Class C North

Manalapan 14, Ocean 4 (5 Innings)

Manalapan scored seven runs to start the game and added to their lead to win their 10th game of the season. Mary Kovalelski went 4-for-4 with three RBIs and Tonnilyn Gussett drove in four runs for Manalapan. Kylie Courter not only drove in three runs for Manalapan, but she was a vacuum at third base for the Braves. Sophia Miranda earned the win for Manalapan, pitching 1-2-3 innings in the 3rd, 4th and 5th to end the game.

Cassandra Foley went 2-for-3 with a triple and double with two RBIs. Foley hit the ball hard all three at-bats for Ocean.

Shore 22, Keansburg 1 (4 Innings)

Dylann Lawrence struck out 8 batters on the mound and scored three times to help Shore improve to 10-4 on the season. The Blue Devils hit three home runs with Kelsey Orth going 4-for-5  with a home run and 5 RBIs, Olivia DeFonce going 3-for-5 with a home run and two doubles and Ayden Kampf going 3-for-4 with a homer and four runs scored.

St. Rose 11, Henry Hudson 1

 

Coastal

Brick at Trinity Hall, 4 p.m.

Jackson Liberty at Long Branch, 4 p.m.

Keyport 21, Lakewood 6

Keyport scored 16 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning to win their 3rd game of the season. Ava Mitchell went 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs and Giovanan Aceta went 1-for-2 with two RBIs for Keyport. Kerwin Amber struck out five batters in the victory.

 

Nondivisional

New Egypt 15, Manchester 5

Lacey 13, Neptune 1

Jackson Memorial 10, Howell 7

After taking a 6-1 lead after the 1st inning, Jackson Memorial responded to Howell’s comeback with a run in the 5th inning and two in the bottom of the 6th to win their 8th game of the season. Nina Striano went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs and Emma Sandoval drove in two runs with two singles. Mia Ingenito scored three times  and Victoria Marconi drove in two runs for the Jaguars. Emily Hersh struck out 8 batters to earn the victory.

Madisyn Zito went 4-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs and Emily Richards hit a home run with two RBIs for Howell.

No. 9 Southern 16, Manasquan 1 (4 Innings)

Barnegat 11, Point Boro 1 (6 Innings)

Barnegat rolled to their 12th win of the season behind Gianna Gomez’s 12 strikeouts and allowing two hits in the game. Brooke Rizzo went 4-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs and Brianna Dato went 3-for-3 with two runs scored for Barnegat.

Danielle Maiorana went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI for Point Boro.

Brick Memorial 15, Rumson-Fair Haven 1

Toms River North 15, Toms River South 2

Junior Dalylia Lyon went 2 for 3 with a walk, a double, and 3 RBIs to lead the Mariners past the Indians. Senior Stephanie Barone went 2 for 3 with a home run, 2 walks, and 2 RBIs. Senior Jordyn Brown finished 2 for 2 with 2 RBIs and 2 walks. Freshman Alexa Iovine went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs and a walk.
