Shore Conference Football Players of the Week

 

We’re back with the Week 7 NuVision Resolve Shore Conference Football Player of the Week poll where we post nominees for the Shore Conference offensive, defensive and special teams Players of the Week and give readers the chance to choose who should take home the award based on their performance in the previous week’s games.

Shore Sports Insider will also select its own offensive, defensive and special teams Players of the Week for each of the Shore Conference’s seven divisions.

Read through each player’s accomplishments for the week and cast your votes. This week’s poll will close on Wednesday at 10 p.m.

OFFENSE

Rahmel Anderson, Sr., QB, Lakewood

-Ran for 245 yards and five touchdowns on 33 carries and threw for 62 yards in a 36-27 win over Keansburg.

 

Caleb Brown, So., QB, Neptune

-Rushed for 192 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries in a 26-20 overtime loss to Pinelands.

 

Mason Ciccariello, Jr., QB, Jackson Liberty

-Went 6-for-6 passing for 220 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Lions to a 49-6 win over Keyport.

 

Jake Clayton, So., QB, Point Boro

-Rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries and intercepted a pass on defense in a 49-14 win over Manasquan.

 

Jack Cannon, Jr., QB, Holmdel

-Totaled five touchdowns in a 49-12 win over Monmouth with 139 yards passing and three touchdowns plus 64 yards rushing and two touchdowns.

 

Jack Haviland, Jr., QB, Barnegat

-Completed 9 of 11 passes for 112 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 17 yards and a touchdown in a 47-7 win over New Egypt.

 

Nasir Jackson, Sr., WR, Toms River North

-Caught four passes for 84 yards and two touchdowns in a 35-0 win over Southern.

 

Christian LaFonte, Sr., RB, Marlboro

-Rushed for 96 yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries in a 35-0 win over Lacey.

 

Jason Lajara, Jr., QB, Brick Memorial

-Completed 8 of 11 passes for 114 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 65 yards and two touchdowns in a 34-0 win over Toms River South.

 

Jio Kabiri, Jr., RB, Jackson Memorial

-Had an outstanding two-way game in a 35-21 win over Brick with a career-high 219 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 29 carries, plus a game-high 13 tackles with 1 sack, 2 tackles for loss, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

 

Am’ir Martinez, Sr., QB, Matawan

-Threw for 188 yards with one touchdown and one interception and ran for 122 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries in a 42-21 loss to No. 12 St. John Vianney.

 

Xavier Nunes, Sr., RB, Raritan

-Ran for 116 yards and two touchdowns on just six carries and caught two passes for 37 yards and a touchdown in a 34-27 win over Colts Neck.

 

Owen O’Toole, Sr., QB, Rumson-Fair Haven

-Became Rumson’s all-time leading passer when he completed 26 of 30 passes for a career-high 331 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 35 yards and a touchdown in a 56-32 win over No. 9 Donovan Catholic.

 

Nicky Palmieri, So., RB, Manalapan

-Rushed for 79 yards and two touchdowns on six carries and caught two passes for 87 yards and a touchdown in a 55-19 win over Freehold Township.

 

Jaimin Parkinson, Sr., RB, Pinelands

-Rushed for 234 yards and three touchdowns on 26 carries, including the game-winning touchdown, in a 26-20 overtime victory over Neptune that kept the Wildcats’ playoff hopes alive.

 

Avery Phillips, Sr., RB, Manchester

-Rushed for a career-high 186 yards and three touchdowns on just eight carries in a 42-14 win over Point Beach.

 

Nick Ruggiero, Sr., RB, Central

-Rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries in a 35-0 win over Freehold.

 

Michael Thomas III, Sr., RB/WR, Donovan Catholic

-The Rutgers recruit erupted for a career-high 278 yards rushing and three touchdowns on 15 carries and also threw a touchdown pass in a 56-32 loss to No. 2 Rumson-Fair Haven.

 

Cole Torres, So., RB, Shore

-Rushed for a career-high 175 yards and a touchdown in a 37-14 win over Ocean.

 

Abdul Turay, So., RB, St. John Vianney

-Rushed for over 200 yards for the fifth time this season by running for a career-high 241 yards and four touchdowns on 28 carries in a 42-21 win over Matawan.

 

Frankie Williams, Sr., QB, Red Bank Catholic

-Completed 13 of 20 passes for 201 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 36 yards and a touchdown in a 42-14 win over state-ranked No. 14 Paramus Catholic.

 

 

 

DEFENSE

Gus Copes, Fr., LB, Central

-Returned an interception for a touchdown in a 35-0 win over Freehold and finished with 10 tackles, 1 sack, 1 tackle for loss and a forced fumble.

 

Justin Davis, Jr., LB, Wall

-Made 10 tackles and posted 2 sacks, 1 tackle for loss and a forced fumble in a 24-14 win over No. 10 Howell. Also caught a 56-yard touchdown pass and finished with three receptions for 85 yards.

 

Jobby Dekis, Sr., LB, Raritan

-Recorded 8 tackles and 2 sacks in a 34-27 win over Colts Neck.

 

Nick Diadema, Sr., LB, Marlboro

-Posted 8 tackles, 1 sack and 2 tackles for loss in a 35-0 shutout win over Lacey.

 

Mike Fink, So., LB, Manchester

-Recovered a fumble in the end zone for his first varsity touchdown and had one tackle for loss in a 42-14 win over Point Beach.

 

Thomas Foley, Jr., DE, St. John Vianney

-Totaled 8 tackles, 3 tackles for loss and 1 forced fumble in a 42-21 win over Matawan.

 

Tanner Hynes, Sr., DL, Point Boro

-Recorded three tackles for loss among his six total tackles in a 49-14 win over Manasquan.

 

Koen Johnson, Jr., DE, Neptune

-Made a career-high six tackles for loss among his nine total tackles in a 26-20 overtime loss to Pinelands.

 

Chase Martin, Sr., LB, Pinelands

-Recorded 9 tackles, 3 sacks and 2 tackles for loss in the Wildcats’ 26-20 overtime win over Neptune that kept their playoff hopes intact.

 

Patrick McGonnell, Sr., LB, Red Bank Catholic

-Had 8 tackles, 2 tackles for loss and 1 interception in the Caseys’ 42-14 win over state-ranked No. 14 Paramus Catholic.

 

Mekai Morse, Sr., DB, Toms River North

-Returned an interception for a touchdown and caught a touchdown pass in a 35-0 win over Southern.

 

Brendan O’Brien, Sr., LB, Shore

-Returned a fumble 27 yards for a touchdown and ran for a touchdown in the Blue Devils’ 37-14 win over Ocean.

 

Jackson Pfister, Sr., DB, Manalapan

-Returned an interception for a touchdown and recorded three tackles when the Braves shut down Freehold Township’s high-octane passing game in a 55-19 victory over the Patriots.

 

Evan Savarese, Sr., DL, Holmdel

-Recorded 8 tackles, 1 sacks, 2 tackles for loss and a fumble recovery in a 49-12 win over Monmouth.

 

Fouad Suleiman, Jr., LB, Jackson Memorial

-Had eight tackles and a career-high 4 tackles for loss in a 35-21 win over Brick.

 

Trey Tallmadge, Jr., LB, Brick Memorial

-Returned to the lineup after missing three games due to injury and posted 12 tackles with two tackles for loss to become Brick Memorial’s all-time leader with 279 career tackles.

 

Cole Toddings, Sr., LB, Barnegat

-Recorded 8 tackles, 1 sack and 2 tackles for loss in a 47-7 win over New Egypt.

 

 

 

SPECIAL TEAMS

Luke Houston, Sr., Marlboro

-Returned a punt for a touchdown and totaled 98 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown on six touches in a 35-o win over Marlboro.

 

Heath Nelson, Sr., Pinelands

-Blocked an extra point with 11 seconds left in regulation in the Wildcats’ 26-2o overtime win over Neptune that kept their playoff hopes alive. Finished with six tackles and 1 sack on defense.

 

Heath Reinhardt, Jr., K, Wall

-Kicked a 31-yard field goal and went 3-for-3 on extra points in a 24-14 win over No. 10 Howell.

 

James Sobieski, Sr., Ocean

-Returned a kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown in a 37-14 loss to Shore.

 

Nick Spanola, So., Point Boro

-Returned a kickoff 84 yards for a touchdown and ran for 97 yards and a touchdown on just three carries in a 49-14 win over Manasquan.

 

Johnny Williams, Jr., Red Bank Catholic

-Returned a punt 60 yards for a touchdown and caught four passes for 95 yards and a touchdown in a 42-14 win over state-ranked No. 14 Paramus Catholic.
