Week 0 Dick’s House of Sport Football Player of the Week Poll

Welcome to the first edition of the Shore Conference Football Player of the Week Poll, presented by Dick’s House of Sport.

Each week, Shore Sports Insider will highlight some of the top individual performances from around the Shore Conference and give readers the chance to decide who deserves to be named Football Player of the Week.

Check out this week’s nominees and their standout performances below, then cast your vote for the player you think should take home the award. The winner will receive a $50.00 gift card to Dick’s House of Sport.

Voting for the Week 0 poll closes Tuesday at noon. Users are limited to one vote per hour. The winner will be announced on Wednesday.

 

Week 0 Shore Sports Insider Football Player of the Week nominees (listed in alphabetical order)

 

Farrin Blake, Sr., RB/DB, Jackson

Blake delivered on both sides of the ball, rushing for 113 yards and a touchdown while recording 11 tackles, one tackle for loss and a forced fumble as the Jaguars shut out Ocean, 21-0.

 

Danny Cavanaugh, Sr., WR/DB, Point Beach

It was a memorable day for the Cavanaugh family, as Danny hauled in two touchdown passes from his brother Billy and added an interception on defense in the Garnet Gulls’ 43-7 victory over South River.

 

RJ Clark, Jr., RB/DB, Pinelands

Clark found the end zone three times, scoring on runs of 6, 3 and 1 yard as the Wildcats rolled to a 40-6 victory over Collingswood.

 

Kahden Davis, Sr., QB, Donovan Catholic

Davis completed 15-of-18 passes for 214 yards and two touchdowns while adding a 29-yard touchdown run as the Griffins avenged last year’s loss with a dominant 52-7 victory over Kingsway.

 

Kyle Dow, Sr., QB/DB, Manasquan

Dow delivered an all-around performance, completing 16-of-22 passes for 195 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 29 yards on five carries and adding six tackles on defense as the Warriors knocked off defending North 1, Group 2 sectional champion Westwood.

 

Noah Fitzpatrick, Jr., WR, St. John Vianney

Fitzpatrick made the most of every touch, scoring on all three of his receptions to finish with 55 yards and three touchdowns from 25, 28 and 2 yards out. His 2-yard touchdown in overtime set up the game-winning two-point conversion as the Lancers knocked off defending Group 3 state champion Cedar Creek.

 

Tommy Fletcher, So., QB, Holmdel

In his first career start, Fletcher exceeded expectations, throwing three touchdown passes from 45, 32 and 54 yards out as the Hornets rolled to a 45-14 victory over Hightstown.

 

Cian Foy, Sr., LB, Brick

Foy delivered a standout defensive performance, racking up 11 tackles, half a sack and a forced fumble while returning an interception 27 yards for a touchdown in a 34-7 win over Allentown.

 

Ford Kelly, Jr., DL, Point Boro

Kelly was unblockable in the trenches, piling up 11 tackles, six tackles for loss and a sack as the Panthers defeated Sterling, 24-10.

 

Thomas Marabuto, Jr., QB, New Egypt

Marabuto was sensational in the clutch, throwing three touchdown passes from 13, 15 and 60 yards out. His 60-yard touchdown strike to Jason Cowan with 10 seconds remaining set up his game-winning two-point conversion pass to Kaiden Grosso to beat Buena, 23-22.

 

Nick Palmieri, Sr., RB, Manalapan

Palmieri piled up the yardage on the ground, rushing for 191 yards on 22 carries with touchdown runs of 25, 4 and 3 yards while adding a two-point conversion as the Braves defeated Hillsborough, 41-25.

 

Jake Platt, Sr., OL/LB, Freehold Township

Platt put together a terrific defensive performance, finishing with nine tackles, a sack, a forced fumble and an interception as the Patriots defeated Central, 38-21.

 

Tyler Pierce, Sr., QB, Brick Memorial

The ball scarcely hit the ground when Pierce dropped back to pass, as he completed 12-of-14 attempts for 115 yards and two touchdowns, including one to his brother Casey, while adding a 30-yard touchdown run in the Mustangs’ 28-3 victory over Wall.

 

Chris Raub, Sr., WR, Southern

Two touches were all Raub needed to make a major impact, as he turned his only two receptions into touchdown catches of 60 and 70 yards in the Rams’ 31-14 victory over Bridgeton.

 

Brennan Spengler, Sr., DB, Raritan

Spengler was a ballhawk in the secondary, recording two interceptions from his safety position while coming up to make seven tackles as the Rockets blanked Madison, 41-0.

 

Carter Tamaro, Sr., K, Toms River North

Tamaro came through in the clutch, drilling a 25-yard game-winning field goal with 18 seconds remaining to lift the Mariners to a 17-14 victory over Northern Highlands. He also converted both of his extra-point attempts.

 

JoJo Totten, Jr., QB, Toms River East

Totten accounted for four touchdowns in a stellar debut, tossing touchdown passes of 6 and 57 yards while adding scoring runs of 1 and 23 yards as the Raiders blanked Manchester, 42-0.

 

Brady Williams, Jr., QB, Rumson-Fair Haven

Williams delivered through the air, tossing three touchdown passes, including strikes of 66 and 58 yards along with a red-zone score, as the Bulldogs edged New York power Tottenville, 28-27.
