The Week 0 edition of the Shore Sports Insider Football Podcast presented by Meadow 28 is here.
Due to technical difficulties with our first recording on Monday night at Meadow 28, we unfortunately had to re-record this week’s podcast virtually. We appreciate everyone’s patience and are working to resolve the issues so we can be back at Meadow 28 next week.
The season-opening show featured guests from Wall and Brick Memorial ahead of Friday night’s matchup between the Crimson Knights and Mustangs.
Wall head coach Ed Gurrieri and senior quarterback/defensive back Franny Scaramellino joined the show to preview the Crimson Knights, while Brick Memorial head coach James Mahoney and senior offensive lineman/defensive lineman Jaxon Pacheco discussed the Mustangs and Friday night’s matchup.
Meadow 28’s Sean McPherson, the General Manager at Spring Meadow Golf Club, also joined the show as a special guest.
Brick Memorial and Wall will meet in a rematch of last year’s season opener, when the Mustangs earned a 35-7 victory. Both teams enter 2026 replacing several standout players, making Friday night’s matchup an intriguing early test.
Scaramellino will be on the field for this year’s meeting after missing the first four games of last season due to the NJSIAA transfer rule. He returned to become a standout in Wall’s secondary and enters his senior season taking on an even larger role at quarterback while continuing to play defense.
Pacheco anchors a Brick Memorial offensive and defensive front that will be counted on heavily following the graduation of several of the Mustangs’ top playmakers. He is one of three All-Shore returners up front alongside Jaxon Ellis and Joe Livio.
The Shore Sports Insider Football Podcast will be a weekly feature throughout the 2026 season, with Yeserski and Smith discussing the biggest stories, games, rankings and performances from around the Shore Conference while welcoming special guests each week.
