In addition to our weekly polls where readers can cast their votes for the Shore Conference Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, Shore Sports Insider will select our own players of the week in all three phases for each of the Shore Conference’s seven divisions.

 

Week 3 Shore Conference Football Divison Players of the Week

 

CLASS A NORTH

Offense

Jordan Angstreich, Sr., WR, Rumson-Fair Haven

Angstreich set career-highs with eight receptions for 89 yards and two touchdowns in the No. 2 Bulldogs’ 35-0 win over Long Branch.

 

Defense

Jennaro Percodani, Jr., LB, Marlboro

Percodani recorded a team-high nine tackles with 1 sacks, 2 tackles for loss and 1 forced fumble to help lead the Mustangs to a 3-0 shutout victory over then-No. 11 Middletown South.

 

Special Teams

Blake Caruso, Jr., K, Red Bank Catholic

Caruso had an outstanding game in the Caseys’ 41-7 win over Colts Neck by going 5-for-5 on extra points and kicking field goals of 44 and 43 yards, the two longest field goals in the Shore Conference this season.

 

 

CLASS A SOUTH

Offense

Dylan Reitmeyer, Sr., FB, Point Boro

Reitmeyer rumbled for a career-high 152 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 24 carries to help lead the No. 5 Panthers to a 34-24 win over No. 8 Jackson Memorial.

 

Defense

Blaise Boland, Sr., LB, Toms River North

Boland was a force of nature in the top-ranked Mariners’ 35-6 win over then-No. 4 Brick Memorial with 13 tackles, 3.5 sacks and 5 tackles for loss. Toms River North allowed just 136 yards to a Mustangs’ offense that entered the week averaging 34.3 points per game.

 

Special Teams

Cole Garrison, So., Toms River North

Garrison returned a punt 75 yards for a touchdown during the No. 1 Mariners’ 35-6 win over then-No. 4 Brick Memorial.

 

 

CLASS B NORTH

Offense

Colin Palumbo, Sr., RB, Matawan

Palumbo erupted for 237 yards rushing and four touchdowns on 25 carries to power the Huskies to a 35-21 victory over Freehold that gave head coach Matt Walsh his first career win.

 

Defense

Jake Minniear, Sr., LB, Freehold Township

Minniear recorded 10 tackles, 2 tackles for loss and a fumble recovery in the Patriots’ 24-22 win over Red Bank.

 

Special Teams

James Russo, Jr., K, Freehold Township

Russo connected on a 22-yard field goal as time expired to send the Patriots to a thrilling 24-22 victory over Red Bank.

 

 

CLASS B SOUTH

Offense

Jake Henehan, Sr., Toms River South

Henehan ran for 176 yards and three touchdowns to power the Indians to a 27-21 win over longtime rival Brick.

 

Defense

Levi Foote, So., LB, Southern

Foote recovered two fumbles, including a 90-yard fumble return touchdown, and added a sack and a tackle for loss when the Rams recorded their third shutout and improved to 4-0 with a 42-0 win over Toms River East.

CLASS C NORTH

Offense

Jack Cannon, Jr., QB, Holmdel

Cannon’s fantastic season continued in the No. 10 Hornets’ 41-0 win over Manasquan when he completed 12 of 14 passes for 209 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 44 yards and a touchdown.

 

Defense

Joe Vaccaro, Sr., LB, Wall

Vaccaro returned a fumble 90 yards for a touchdown with under a minute left in the fourth quarter to seal No. 7 Wall’s wild 36-26 win over No. 6 St. John Vianney.

 

Special Teams

Mason Adam, Sr., and Luke Davis, So., Wall

Adam returned a kickoff for a touchdown with the help of Davis in the Crimson Knights’ electric 36-26 win over St. John Vianney. Adam had the ball punched out at the 1-yard line after a 90-plus yard return but Davis was there to immediately pounce on the fumble and secure the touchdown.

 

 

CLASS C SOUTH

Offense

Marquis Goins Jr., Sr., WR, Manchester

Goins caught three passes for 122 yards and hauled in a 67-yard touchdown to help the Hawks rally for a 15-9 win over Jackson Liberty. Goins also had an interception on defense.

 

Defense

Eric Kobilnyk, Jr., LB, Pinelands

Pinelands became the first team to hold Lakewood quarterback Rahmel Anderson under 200 yards rushing and Kobilnyk was at the center of the Wildcats’ defensive performance with a game-high 12 tackles and three tackles for loss.

 

Special Teams (tie)

Anthony Dringus, So., K, Barnegat

Dringus went 6-for-6 on extra points in Barnegat’s 42-6 win over Monmouth Regional.

Jacob Haywood, Jr., K, Pinelands

Haywood went 6-for-6 on extra points in the Wildcats’ 42-16 win over Lakewood.

 

CLASS D NORTH

Offense

Liam Brosnan, Sr., RB, Point Beach

Brosnan ran for 92 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries as the Garnet Gulls came off their bye week with a 24-13 win over Keansburg.

 

Defense

Jerry Santiago, Sr., DL, Point Beach

Santiago had a night to remember in the Garnet Gulls’ 24-13 win over Keansburg. The senior defensive lineman recorded nine tackles with two sacks and two tackles for loss, recovered a fumble, forced a safety with one of his sacks and then returned an onside kick 30 yards for a touchdown.

 

Special Teams

John Mazzacco, Jr., K, Shore

Mazzacco went 7-for-7 on extra points in the Blue Devils’ 49-0 win over Keyport. He is 15-for-15 on PATs for the season and 2-for-2 on field goals with a long of 32 yards.
