2026 Jersey Shore Basketball League Regular Season Awards
The Jersey Shore Basketball League’s 58th regular season concluded this week. The 2026 JSBL Awards were voted on by a panel of this year’s JSBL staff and Shore Sports Insider. All players were required to play in over 50% of the seven regular-season games to be eligible for an award.
1st Team All-JSBL
Most Valuable Player
Justin Robinson, 5-8, Guard, Sea View Jeep

As he has for more than a decade, the Monmouth legend continued to dominate the JSBL despite commanding extra defensive attention from every opponent on the schedule. The 31-year-old has shown no signs of slowing down, continuing to display elite quickness, burst, and change of pace with the ball while showcasing an array of creative finishing moves. His basketball IQ remains unmatched, as he consistently finds the open man for a quality shot whenever defenses send extra help.
Robinson enjoyed a strong professional season in Italy this past winter before returning home to lead the Jersey Shore Breaks to the 94×50 Pro Basketball League championship. He is expected to draw plenty of interest as he awaits his next professional opportunity.
Josh Treadwell, 6-5, Guard, County Line Auto Body

The former Coppin State standout is one of the premier shot-makers in the JSBL, particularly off the dribble from both beyond the arc and the midrange. Far more than just a shooter, Treadwell is a physical guard who uses his strength to overpower smaller defenders and create scoring opportunities in a variety of ways.
Treadwell helped lead the Jersey Shore Breaks to the 94×50 Pro Basketball League championship this past season. His plans for the upcoming professional season have not yet been announced.
Josh Cohen, 6-10, Forward, Sea View Jeep

From Lincroft to the Big Ten and the NBA G League, the former Christian Brothers Academy standout has traveled an impressive path in his young basketball career. His latest stop in the JSBL has been nothing short of dominant, as he has controlled the paint with his efficient interior scoring and relentless rebounding.
Cohen saw limited action with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, the Miami Heat’s NBA G League affiliate, before injuries and illness derailed his season. Now back to full health, the standout big man should have no shortage of professional opportunities moving forward.
Markus Kennedy, 6-9, Forward, County Line Auto Body

The 34-year-old former Southern Methodist standout may be entering the later stages of his professional career, but his play suggests otherwise. Kennedy remains one of the league’s most effective traditional big men, using his combination of brute strength, polished footwork, and soft touch around the basket to consistently score in the post.
Kennedy spent this past season with the Capital Seahawks in the 94×50 Pro Basketball League, helping lead the franchise to a championship game appearance. His plans for the next chapter of his professional career have not yet been announced.
Jared Kimbrough, 6-8, Forward, ACI/Robin’s Nest

2026 Stats: 23.7 PPG | 12.7 RPG | 1.2 APG | 0.7 SPG | 1.0 BPG | 60.8% FG | 28.6% 3PT | 58.1% FT
One year after helping lead ACI/Robin’s Nest to its first JSBL championship, the former Neptune star has picked up right where he left off as one of the league’s top two-way big men. An explosive athlete, there are few players capable of matching him above the rim, whether finishing alley-oops, protecting the basket, or controlling the glass.
Kimbrough spent this past winter playing professionally in Finland, where he produced strong numbers for Kataja. His plans for the upcoming professional season have not yet been announced.
2nd Team All-JSBL
Dwaine Jones, 6-5, Guard, ACI/Robin’s Nest

The former Neptune standout has not quite replicated the level of play from last year’s playoff MVP run that carried ACI/Robin’s Nest to its first JSBL championship, but he remains one of the league’s top point guards. Jones is still among the JSBL’s most dangerous slashers, using his speed, athleticism, and length to make him nearly impossible to contain in transition.
Jones spent his first professional season with the Caledonia Gladiators in the United Kingdom. The Mountain East Conference’s all-time assists leader has not yet announced his plans for next season.
Jachai Simmons, 6-7, Guard, County Line Auto Body

One of the league’s most efficient scorers and a long, versatile wing defender, the Plainfield native is capable of scoring at all three levels with remarkable efficiency. Whenever the regular-season champions needed a basket to halt an opponent’s run, more often than not, Simmons was the player who delivered.
Simmons was part of the Jersey Shore Breaks team that captured the 94×50 Pro Basketball League championship, earning Second Team All-League honors along the way. His plans for the upcoming professional season have not yet been announced.
Ryan Savoy, 6-4, Forward, WCT Warriors
Defensive Player of the Year

An ascending young player, the former Lakewood standout finished the regular season as the league leader in steals while also ranking second in blocked shots. Despite standing just 6-foot-4, Savoy has proven capable of guarding all five positions and has a knack for frustrating many of the league’s top scorers. His outside shot has also taken significant strides, highlighting his potential as a prototypical three-and-D player at the professional level.
Savoy completed his collegiate career at Nichols in 2025, earning Conference of New England Defensive Player of the Year honors. Whether he pursues a professional basketball career remains uncertain, as he currently works full-time outside of basketball.
Rasheen Merlin, 6-9, Forward, Sterns Trailer

The one constant on a talented team that featured a different lineup almost every night, Merlin provided a steady presence throughout the regular season. Standing 6-foot-9 and weighing 230 pounds, he is a difficult matchup for nearly every frontcourt in the league when he embraces his physicality and plays through contact.
The former Winston-Salem State standout spent this past winter with the Kokomo Bobcats of The Basketball League (TBL). His plans for the upcoming professional season have not yet been announced.
Scott Gyimesi, 6-6, Forward, WCT Warriors
2026 Stats: 23.4 PPG | 13.2 RPG | 3.0 APG | 1.0 SPG | 0.8 BPG | 53.1% FG | 34.4% 3PT | 66.7% FT

The former Rumson-Fair Haven standout serves as an undersized center on one of the league’s smallest teams, yet consistently produces double-doubles by playing much bigger than his size. Gyimesi more than compensates for the height disadvantage with outstanding fundamentals, a relentless motor, and a physical brand of basketball that makes him one of the toughest interior players in the JSBL.
Gyimesi concluded his collegiate career at Tufts University as a Division III All-American. Whether he intends to pursue a professional basketball career has not yet been announced.
3rd Team All-JSBL
Dante Weise, 6-1, Guard, OIB Ortho
Rookie of the Year

The Allentown native quickly established himself as one of the league’s most well-rounded point guards, capable of flirting with a triple-double on any given night. Weise is the engine that drives the JSBL’s youngest team, consistently keeping his squad competitive against far more experienced opponents with his playmaking, scoring, and all-around versatility.
Weise enters his senior season at Millersville University after leading the PSAC in assist-to-turnover ratio as a junior.
Leon Daniels, 6-5, Guard, County Line Auto Body

The Atlantic City native has consistently established himself as one of the league’s top two-way guards. The former Alabama State standout is relentless on the defensive end, routinely picking up opposing ball handlers the length of the floor to apply constant pressure. Daniels is equally effective offensively, possessing the ability to score at all three levels.
Daniels was also a member of the Jersey Shore Breaks team that captured the 94×50 Pro Basketball League championship. His plans for the upcoming season have not yet been announced.
Corey Floyd Jr., 6-4, Guard, Larson Ford

One of the league’s most dangerous scorers when he catches fire, the recently graduated Big East guard is among the toughest players in the JSBL to defend. Although his outside shot wasn’t always at its best this summer, Floyd Jr. remained the focal point of every opponent’s defense because of his ability to erupt for points in a matter of minutes.
Floyd Jr. concluded his collegiate career at Providence College, where he was a three-year starter. Following the season, he participated in workouts in Las Vegas during NBA Summer League as he pursues professional opportunities. His plans for the upcoming season have not yet been announced.
Josh Michigan, 6-4, Guard, OIB Ortho

The former Brick Memorial standout has been one of the league’s hottest shooters this summer, showcasing one of the deadliest jump shots in the JSBL. With good positional size, Michigan is able to shoot over smaller defenders while also using crafty shot-making to score effectively against longer defenders.
Michigan transferred to Saint Anselm this spring, where he has multiple seasons of eligibility remaining.
Shahid Muhammad, 6-11, Center, WCT Warriors

Blessed with exceptional size, length, and explosiveness, Muhammad is the premier rim protector in the JSBL, leading the league in blocked shots. Beyond blocking and altering countless attempts at the rim, he possesses the foot speed to switch onto smaller guards and defend effectively on the perimeter. His offensive game has also evolved considerably since entering the JSBL four years ago, transforming him into a near-automatic double-double every time he steps on the floor.
Muhammad completed his collegiate career at Florida State University this past season. His rare combination of physical tools, defensive versatility, and upside should make him an intriguing prospect for a variety of professional teams.

Coach of the Year
Steve Porter, County Line Auto Body
7-0 record, First Place (Regular Season)
In his first season as head coach, Porter has done a tremendous job molding a high-end collection of talent into a cohesive, unselfish team. County Line Auto Body shares the basketball as well as any team in the league while also applying relentless full-court pressure for all four quarters—two qualities rarely seen in summer basketball. It’s no surprise the group rolled to the regular-season championship with a perfect 7-0 record.
Porter is an assistant coach for the Jersey Shore Breaks, whom he helped guide to their league title.
Most Improved Player
Justin Soranno, 6-7, Forward, OIB Ortho

The former Central Regional standout got his first taste of JSBL competition two years ago on a winless Intern Helpers team that struggled to keep pace with the league’s seasoned professionals and high-level collegiate talent. The size, athleticism, and experience of the competition proved to be a steep learning curve.
Now, after two more seasons at Georgian Court, the game has clearly slowed down for Soranno. He has developed into an effective interior scorer, consistently finishing through contact while battling on the glass against opponents who often still possess a significant experience advantage. Soranno narrowly missed earning Third Team All-JSBL honors.
He will enter his final season at Georgian Court this fall.
