Thanksgiving Games
No. 6 Wall 17, No. 8 Manasquan 8
Senior quarterback Brian McKenna threw a pair of touchdown passes as the Crimson Knights (9-3) ended the season with a win over the rival Warriors (8-3).
McKenna threw a 42-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Heath Reinhardt and a four-yard touchdown to senior wideout Maddox Mizelle as Wall built a 14-0 halftime lead. Reinhardt added a 23-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.
Senior linebacker Dylan Cohen had an interception to help lead the defensive effort.
Junior quarterback Kyle Dow threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to senior Frankie Tackett in the fourth quarter for Manasquan.
No. 12 Middletown North 7, Middletown South 6
The Lions (6-5) moved to 2-0 this season against the Eagles (4-7) in the final minutes, to win the 52nd meeting between the two teams, the 49th on Thanksgiving.
Middletown North had only beaten Middletown South twice in the last 26 years heading into this season before defeating the Eagles in the Central Jersey Group 4 quarterfinals and again on Thursday.
Junior running back Justin Rosato opened the scoring for Middletown South, plunging in from a yard out on the opening drive to take an early lead four minutes in. A missed two-point conversion proved to be the difference, however.
The score remained at 6-0 for the next three quarters, until Middletown North took the lead for good with seven minutes left, as senior quarterback Owen Robson lofted a 20-yard score to fellow senior wideout Ryan Clark in their final respective high school games.
The Eagles had a chance late, but a missed 23-yard field goal allowed the Lions to run out the clock and come away victorious in the inter-town rivalry game.
