Championship

(3) Red Bank 64, (5) Manalapan 59

Junior Justin Valentino, sophomore Wyatt Hegner and senior Will Galligan each posted a double-double and the Bucs (11-15) topped the Braves (13-14) to win the third annual Shore Conference Coaches Cup championship.

Valentino led Red Bank with 19 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and two steals. Hegner added 16 points and 11 boards while Galligan chipped in 15 points and 10 rebounds. Hegner scored nine of Red Bank’s 21 points in the first quarter and Valentino caught fire in the second quarter, during which he scored 10 points. During the third quarter, Red Bank pushed its lead as high as 17 and Manalapan never got closer than the five-point margin in the final score.

Junior Joe Farino matched Valentino with a game-high 19 points to lead Manalapan, while freshman Josh Sosinov added 10 points and nine rebounds in the loss. Braves senior Dean Aviles scored seven of his nine points in the first quarter before dealing with foul trouble, which began when he picked up his third foul with 5:23 left in the second quarter.

 

Non-Division

Shore 66, Toms River East 58

Senior Andrew Barham scored a game-high 22 points and the Blue Devils (19-6) picked up a road win over the Raiders (13-12) to tune up ahead of the NJSIAA Tournament. Senior Ryan Barham added 15 points, classmate Jasias Colon threw in 13 and senior Finn Watson netted 10 for Shore.

Sophomore Brady Gillen scored 20 points and classmate Tommy Intintola contributed 16 points and 13 rebounds to lead Toms River East. Fellow sophomore Carson Frazier added 12 points, eight rebounds and five blocked shots in the loss.

No. 6 Howell 75, Toms River North 61

Junior Jayson Parker scored 16 points and senior Cayden Parker chipped in 14 as the Rebels celebrated their Senior Day with a win over the Mariners. Sophomore Jake Greenberg scored a game-high 19 points to lead Toms River North, with senior Aidan Gavillan adding 11 and junior Logan Brill netting 10 in the loss.

Middletown North 68, Donovan Catholic 65

Senior Eddie Lopez scored a game-high 23 points and the Lions (8-18) pulled off a road win over the Griffins (7-16). Freshman Nick DiGiovanni led the Middletown North supporting cast with 15 points and classmate Branden Estrada threw in 10. Senior Jack Dambaugh and junior Nate Tyburczy each added eight points apiece in the win.

Senior Pat Gallo led four Donovan Catholic scorers in double-figures with 21 points, while freshman Gerard Gallo added 14, junior Gabe Feliciano chipped in 12 and junior Anthony Street poured in 11 in the loss.

 

Non-Conference

Bishop Eustace 55, Jackson 50

Senior George Boley scored 11 of his 17 points in the second half, but the Jaguars (17-5) could not run down the Crusaders (19-8), who were led by 24 points from Dillon Adomanis. Senior Jimmy Pappalardo added 12 points and sophomore Mi’Aire Anderson threw in nine for Jackson.

East Brunswick 83, No. 9 Middletown South 52

Freshman Ryan Gannon scored 15 points, but was the only Middletown South player to crack double-figures in an Eagles (14-11) loss to the Bears (20-6).
