No. 4 Colts Neck 12, No. 6 Marlboro 11
Senior SS Gabriella Bryce hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the 7th inning to lead the Cougars (2-2, 2-2) past the Mustangs (2-2, 1-2) in a thriller. Colts Neck led 11-5 heading into the final inning when Marlboro came roaring back to tie the game.
Bryce finished 5-for-5 with a home run, double, and two RBI’s. Senior 3B Julia Watkins went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI’s. Sophomore CF Adrianna Bryce hit a two-run home run and a sacrifice fly for her third RBI. Senior DP Angela Sasso batted 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI’s. Sophomore pitcher Jillian Heyser went 3-for-4 with an RBI at the plate.
Junior CF Alyssa Abadiatokis went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI’s. Senior pitcher Emily Gaudio was 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI, and two walks. Sophomore 3B Sophia Liranzo batted 2-for-4 with two RBI’s.
Colonial
No. 8 Holmdel 10, Howell 0
Senior pitcher Julia Henderson struck out 10 batters and allowed just two hits in a complete game win for the Hornets (4-0, 4,0) over the Rebels (2-2, 1-2). Sophomore 2B Kylee Lau hit her first career home run on a deep shot to center field. Henderson was 1-for-2 with a triple, two RBI’s, and two walks at the plate. Junior C Natalie Clifford batted 1-for-3 with two RBI’s. Senior 1B Emma Vanario finished 1-for-3 with an RBI double and a walk.
Freedom
Jackson 7, Central 2
After scoring one run in the top of the 1st inning, Jackson (2-3) scored six runs in the 2nd inning to defeat Central (3-2) in a division game. Sophomore Mia Ingenito went 3-for-4, coming a home run short of the cycle. She also scored and drove in two runs for the Jaguars. On the mound she struck out three batters to earn the victory.
Junior Kayla Fedor drove in both runs for Central, going 2-for-3 with a home run and double.
Southern 11, Pinelands 0
Southern’s (2-4) bats put an end to their three game losinng streak, beating division rival Pinelands (1-3). Junior Christina Brooks drove in four runs and hit a home run and double in the game for Southern. Abigail Krill went 3-for-4 with three runs scored a double for Southern.
No. 2 Donovan Catholic 17, Point Boro 2 (4 Innings)
Donovan (4-0) wasted no time jumping on Point Boro (1-3), scoring four runs in the 1st inning and five more inn the 3rd inning. The Griffins hit two home runs in the game, one by Jaelyyn Nunez and the other by Amelia Wescott. Senior Caroline Kopp went 3-for-3 and drove in four runs and had a triple. Kopp also earned the victory on the mound, striking out eight batters.
Freshman Mackenzie Ferwerda drove in a run for Point Boro.
Independence
Toms River East 7, New Egypt 1
Toms River East (3-1) scored three runs in the 1st inning and put the game away with two runs in both the 5th and 6th innings to pick-up a division win against New Egypt (1-2). Junior Kylie Paladino went 3-for-4 and was a single short of the cycle. Besides driving in five runs at the plate, Paladino struck out four batters on the mound to earn the win. Senior Cameron Carr collected three hits and scored three times for the Raiders.
Freshman Hannah Raulf drove in a run on a double for New Egypt.
No. 7 Barnegat 17, Point Beach 2 (4 innings)
Junior pitcher Gianna Gomez struck out 12 batters and allowed two hits, a walk, and no earned runs as the Bengals (5-0, 4-0) routed the Garnet Gulls (3-3, 1-2). Sophomore Brooke Rizzo went 3-for-4 with a home run, and six RBI’s. Freshman Sky Garcia-Fermin was 3-for-3 with a double, a walk, and six RBI’s. Gomez went 1-for-3 at the plate with a home run.
Liberty
Toms River North 7, Manchester 6
Junior Gabriella Misner-Schletto singled to center to score pinch-runner Lena Salvaggione in the bottom of the 7th to give Toms River North (3-0, 3-0) the win over division rival Manchester (2-3, 1-2). It was a back-and-forth game with Manchester scoring two runs in the top of the 7th to take a 6-5 lead. Senior Dalyia Lyon went 2-for-3 with a triple, HBP, and two RBI’s for TRN. McKayla Buchy added two hits and had two runs scored for the Mariners. Freshman Julianna Garofalo struck out eight batters in the victory.
Freshman Isabella Cellini-Winters went 3-for-3 with two RBI’s for Manchster.
Patriot
Keansburg 15, Henry Hudson 3
Freshman Taylor Diaz went 2-for-4 with a home run as the Titans (3-0, 3-0) routed the Admirals (1-2, 1-1). Senior Gabriella Flanzbaum was 3-for-4 with a double and a walk. Sophomore Arielle Buchanan was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a walk. Senior Jabnelyz Crespo-Borges hit a two-run single. Senior Raechel Gardenier finished 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Non-Division
Freehold Boro 3, Middletown North 2
Junior RF Katherine Martin went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI, and a run as the Colonials (4-0) held on to defeat the Lions (1-4). Junior CF Paige Sheridan was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Freshman 2B Nyla Bartuck finished 2-for-3 with a double and a run. Freshman pitcher Vanessa Karabin batted 1-for-3 with a run. Karabin allowed 13 hits on the mound but did a tremendous job of maintaining her composure and allowed only two runs and no walks.
Sophomore C Abby Esposito went 2-for-4 with a double and a run in the loss. Junior Deana Coberg was 2-for-4 with two RBI’s.
