Red Bank Catholic Defensive End Lorenzo Tartamella Commits to Navy

Red Bank Catholic rising senior defensive end Lorenzo Tartamella announced on Instagram Saturday that he has verbally committed to Navy.

Tartamella is one of the top returning seniors in the Shore Conference this fall after earning first-team All-Shore honors from Shore Sports Insider as a junior. He finished with 65 tackles, six sacks, and 15 tackles for a loss as a member of the Shore’s No. 1 team.

“Dreams do come true,” Tartamella wrote on Instagram.

He also was a first-team All-Class A North selection by the coaches and helped lead the Caseys to the division title. Tartamella, who was a third-team All-Shore pick as a sophomore, had 20-plus offers from Power Four programs to the Ivy League.

The two-way starter for the Caseys becomes their second recruit by a military academy in two seasons. Wide receiver/safety Dan Zabora, a first-team All-Shore selection as a senior this past fall, is continuing his career at Air Force.

Tartamella, whose commitment is not official until he signs with Navy during the signing period that begins Dec. 2-4, joins a Midshipmen team coming off an 11-2 season and the No. 23 final ranking in the Associated Press poll.
