Shore Sports Insider is proud to partner with OIB Ortho this fall to present our weekly OIB Ortho Football Team of the Week Award, recognizing one Shore Conference program for its accomplishments on the field. We are also thrilled to welcome Joe Leone’s as a co-sponsor, providing a very generous $500 Pasta Party Gift Card each week to celebrate the winning team.

The Week 1 recipient of the 2026 OIB Ortho/Joe Leone’s Football Team of the Week is Matawan, following the Huskies’ emotional 18-12 victory over Raritan, using big plays on both sides of the ball to even its record at 1-1.

Junior Sean Euell led the offense with 94 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries, while adding 22 receiving yards. Zach Johnson delivered one of the game’s biggest defensive plays, returning a fumble for a touchdown to help give the Huskies an 18-6 halftime lead.

Raritan battled back to make it 18-12, but with the Rockets threatening in the final seconds, Cayson Williams came up with the game-clinching interception to seal the victory.

Williams also caught six passes for 56 yards, giving the Huskies a major contribution on both sides of the football.

The win carried extra meaning for Matawan following the passing of legendary former head coach Barry Rizzo, whose name graces the Huskies’ home field and whose legacy remains an important part of the program.

Shore Sports Insider visited practice to recognize Matawan as the Week 1 Team of the Week, presenting the Huskies with a commemorative game ball and a $500 Joe Leone’s gift card for a well-earned team pasta party.
