(11) Lacey 46, (15) Point Beach 34

Lacey outscored Point Beach 17-5 in the 1st quarter to win their second game of the season in the consolation round of the WOBM Christmas Classic. Junior Brooklynn Bell posted her first double-double of the season with 20 points and 12 rebounds and Reece Paget scored 10 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for Lacey. Senior Erin Frauenheim scored a team-high 13 points for Point Beach.

(13) Toms River South 41,  (16) Brick Memorial 34

Toms River South trailing 31-24 entering the 4th quarter outscored Brick Memorial 17-3 to win their second game of the season. Sophomore Linsey Cribbin scored a team-high 12 points and grabbed 7 rebounds for TRS. Junior Liana Lapena scored a game-high 15 points for Brick Memorial.

 

Ray Cervino Bracket (TR North Gym)

(6) Middletown North 45, (7) Central 35

Middletown North erased a 1 point halftime deficit with a 17-7 3rd quarter in order to pull ahead and ultimately defeat Central. Junior Laila Iasparro led the Lions with 11 points in the victory while Senior Karleigh Aber and Sophomore Kaelyn Gibson added 8 points each in the win.

Blue Devil Holiday Tournament

Location: Shore Regional High School, Oceanport

 

Quarterfinal

(1) Howell 72, (8) Raritan 32 

Howell ran away from Raritan behind a dominating 21 point and 18 rebound double-double performance from Sophomore Kylee Beam. Senior Kiera McKown added 15 points and 8 rebounds, and Junior Payton Smith added 15 points in the win for the Rebels.

(4) Jackson Memorial 57, (5) Freehold Boro 45

Jackson Memorial pulled away from Freehold Boro with a commanding 2nd quarter that saw the Jaguars outscore the Colonials 19-10 to take a 28-18 lead at halftime. Junior Isabella Finer scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Jaguars while Freshman Kayla Matos and Sophomore Cali Brown also added 15 points apiece in the victory.

(6) Shore 57, (3) Neptune 54

Shore upset Neptune in an exciting tournament match-up. Senior Kimi Sayson led the Blue Devils with a team-high 18 points including a terrific 13/14 free throw shooting performance. Junior Ava Coyle added 17 points and 7 rebounds in the win. Senior Christa Ramos score a team-high 18 points for the Fliers in the loss.

(7) Manalapan vs (2) St. Joseph Hill (NY), 8:30 p.m.

 

Consolation

Long Branch 48, Ocean 45 

Long Branch hung on after building a 12-5 lead in the 1st quarter to defeat Ocean 48-45. Senior Leomary Diaz-Merino scored a team-high 23 points to lead Long Branch. Junior Yassmeen Youssef scored a career-high 23 points and freshman Emma Burke added 16 points for Ocean.

Monmouth 53, Jackson Liberty 16

Monmouth outscored Jackson Liberty 24-0 in the 1st quarter to win their consolation game in the Blue Devil Holiday Tournament. Senior Amaya Harris posted a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds for Monmouth.

Sayreville 51, Matawan 32

Sayreville ran away from Matawan behind a 14 point and 10 rebound double-double from Freshman Natalia Glazewski. Callie Calligy scored a team-high 14 points for the Huskies in the loss.

 

Warrior Holiday Classic

Location: New Egypt High School

New Egypt 29, Pinelands 21

New Egypt outscored Pinelands 10-5 in the 4th quarter to pull away and secure a victory in the first round of the Warrior Holiday Classic. Madison Adam scored a game-high 14 points for New Egypt. Freshman Rory Krier led Pinelands with 10 points and five steals.

 

Viking Invitational 2024

Location: Wilmington, Delaware

No. 1 Red Bank Catholic 59, Olmstead Falls (OH) 23

The Caseys had seven players score 6 or more points in their first game in the Viking Invitational. Junior Kate Liggio knocked down three 3-pointers and scored a team-high 11 points and Addy Nyemchek added 10 points for RBC.

 

Boardwalk Classic Tournament

Location: Wildwood Convention Center, Wildwood, NJ

Barnegat 54, St. Dominic Academy 28

Barnegat outscored St. Dominic Academy 18-4 in the 2nd quarter  to build a 36 to 13 lead and win their first round game in the Boardwalk Classic. Barnegat had two players post double-doubles with Emma Thornton scoring 22 points and grabbing 15 rebounds and Zemirah Enalls scoring 16 points and grabbing 15 rebounds.

 

Monroe Holiday Tournament

Location: Monroe High School

Westfield 39, Freehold Township 32

Westfield defeated Freehold Township in a defensive battle led by Junior Megan Logan with a game-high 10 points and a whopping 18 rebound performance from Senior Catie Carayannopoulos. Senior Gaby Parker scored a team-high 9 points in the loss for the Patriots.

 

Non-Conference

Keansburg 49, South River 10

Keansburg jumped out to a 17-2 lead in the 1st quarter and 28-6 lead at halftime to win their first round game. Junior Princess Graves scored a game-high 18 points and Lindsay Rivera and Gianna Bettinger both added 10 points for Keansburg.

South Amboy 29, Henry Hudson 24

South Amboy held on to defeat Henry Hudson in a defensive struggle that saw both teams only score 3 points each in the 4th quarter. Sophomore Gwen Kalantsis led South Amboy with a game-high 14 point and 10 rebound double-double.
