No. 5 Manasquan 44,  No. 4 Red Bank Regional 36

Manasquan turns the tables on Red Bank Regional, wins 44-36 in the opening game at the Boardwalk Showcase.
Manasquan Girls Basketball had almost exactly a year to reflect on last year’s 42-41 loss to Red Bank Regional.  Not wanting to suffer the same fate, the Warriors came out and blitzed the Bucs in the second half, earning a 44-36 win at the Hoop Group Boardwalk Showcase at Georgian Court University.
Red Bank Regional led 12-11 after one and 18-15 at half on the strength of Caroline Polloway and Synai Blychanton, who each had 9 of RBR’s 18 points.  Polloway finished with a game high 18 points and 9 rebounds, while Blychanton finished with 11 points.
Olivia Shaughnessy led Manasquan with 13 points, while Kayden Clark and Jordyn Hollowell added 8 points each.  Shannon Heine had 5 points, but had a huge rebound off of a Clark missed free throw with Manasquan leading by 4.  Heine also did double duty on defense, playing tough post defense on the 6’2 Polloway, then guarding the lightning quick Blychanton on the perimeter.
