Rumson-Fair Haven lived up to their preseason ranking during opening week. The Bulldogs took down No. 6 Red Bank, beating them 11-3, and took down a Westfield team that won the Group 4 state title last year. The most impressive part of RFH’s game so far has been their hounding defense. Junior midfielder Chloe Kelly led the way in the first two games combining for eight goals and three assists. Junior defender and Rutgers commit Harbour Goldsmith was another Bulldogs player that was everywhere on the field. Rumson-Fair Haven’s schedule will continue to provide challenges every week with Lawrenceville and No.5 Manasquan on tap this week.

2. Southern (3-0) Last Week: 2

The Rams only played one game this week as they took care of business against non-conference foe Ocean City, beating them 9-8. Southern has yet to blow anyone out in dominating fashion, but they have played 3 quality teams and found a way to win them all. The Rams’ calling card so far has been their defense. They are allowing just over 6 goals a game which is an impressive mark against the opponents they have played. The Rams have scored 24 goals this year and sophomore midfielder Mackenzie Sininsky has either scored or assisted on 18 of those goals. Senior attacker Callie Siek has also whistled five goals this season. The Rams host No. 6 Red Bank on Thursday before traveling to face their rival, No. 8 Barnegat on Saturday.

3. Trinity Hall (1-0) Last Week: 3

The Monarchs could not have gotten off to a better start this year as they dismantled division rival Shore this past week, 17-4. Junior midfielder Chiara Donohue went off for nine goals. Junior O’Malley Eldridge also had a great game as she scored twice and added two helpers. Perhaps the biggest development for the Monarchs was a breakout game from sophomore attacker/midfielder Sarina Derosa. Derosa had 20 points as a freshman last year (16 G, 4 A) and took her game to an entirely different level against Shore in the opener when she netted a hat trick and assisted on a trio of goals. The Monarchs have a challenging upcoming week as they take on Haddonfield, Hill (PA), and Bridgewater-Raritan.

4. Middletown South (2-0) Last Week: 5

Middletown South looks like a team that can do some big things this year. Rob Grella’s squad could not have asked for a better start as they took down Wall 18-5 and Manasquan on the road 7-6. The narrow win over formerly fourth-ranked Manasquan propelled the Eagles one spot in the rankings. Junior attacker Hayley Jamison is poised to have a breakout year; she scored five goals against Wall and added a hat trick against No.5 Manasquan. Sophomore attacker Ashley Penn looks like she has taken a big leap forward as she scored seven goals over two games. Junior midfielder Alexis Marquis scored five goals this past week. The Eagles will be favored against three unranked teams this week in Holmdel, Shore and Donovan Catholic.

5. Manasquan (2-1) Last Week: 4

The Warriors only played once last week as they lost 7-6 to Middletown South. Manasquan drops one spot due to the head-to-head loss, but the narrow margin keeps them in the top 5. This Manasquan team has a lot of talent including two players that are playing great lacrosse right now in junior midfielder Dylan Carnahan and sophomore attacker/midfielder Chloe Stevens. Stevens has 10 goals in the Warriors’ three games and Carnahan is second on the team in points with nine (5 goals, 4 assists). Manasquan has a big week coming up as they get a crack at No. 1 Rumson-Fair Haven on Thursday which is sandwiched between games against non-conference foes Holy Spirit and Moorestown.

6. Red Bank (2-1) Last Week: 6

Red Bank defeated Old Bridge 18-7 before losing to No.1 Rumson-Fair Haven, 11-3. The Bucs played a very good week of lacrosse and even hung around with the Bulldogs for a sizable portion of the game. The solid showing against the top-ranked Bulldogs allows the Bucs to hold their spot for the time being. Seniors Karlie Ruland and Chloe Keating paced the Bucs in scoring. Keating has 12 goals and four assist on the season while Ruland has nine goals and six assists. Senior defender Kathleen Deverin has also played really well as she has six goals and six helpers. The Bucs have two opportunities to bounce back this week against No.10 Point Boro and No. 2 Southern.

7. Central (2-0) Last Week: 8

Another 1-0 week coupled with Shore starting the season 0-3, has the Golden Eagles moving up one spot. Central beat divisional foe Red Bank Catholic, 16-8. The big story so far has been sophomore Addison Frulio who has scored 15 goals in two games. Frulio has also assisted on four goals and has been a two-way star as she has 20 ground balls, 23 draw controls and 11 forced turnovers. Frulio could be on 100 goals watch this season if she keeps up this level of play. Senior Brianna Nelson is also helping carry the load as she has seven goals and three assists through the Golden Eagles first two contests. Central plays Freehold Township before a critical matchup with No. 9 Manalapan on the schedule this week in what will be their first major test of the season.

8. Barnegat (2-0) Last Week: 9

The Bengals went 2-0 on the week with a 15-4 win over New Egypt and a 10-4 win over No. 10 Point Boro. Barnegat climbed a spot in the rankings by virtue of winning both games and Shore starting the season 0-3. Barnegat came into the season looking to replace their top two defenders. So far head coach Lyndsey Torre has to be pretty happy with how the Bengals defense has looked. The Bengals have given up just 8 goals in two games. Junior Ella Tortorici has six goals in two games and has added two assists. Junior Sadie Guiro has looked really strong building off of a good 2025. Guiro has scored six times and added two helpers. Barnegat will be favored in games against Marlboro and Wall this week before a major showdown with their rival No. 2 Southern on Saturday.

9. Manalapan (3-0) Last Week: 10

The Braves continually improved in 2025 and have gotten out of the gate well in 2026 defeating St. John Vianney, Wall, and Shore. The Braves have had a high-powered offense so far. Junior Aryelle Stein has 19 goals in 3 games and is looking like she’s going to score 100 goals again. Senior midfielder Madison Alcantara has also been on fire to start the season scoring 14 goals and adding four assists. The Braves have a big game against No.7 Central on Thursday sandwiched between games against Ocean and Middletown North.

10. Point Boro (1-1) Last Week: Unranked

Point Boro becomes the first newcomer on this list. The Panthers took down formerly seventh-ranked Shore last week before losing No.8 Barnegat. Splitting a pair of games against ranked teams earns the Panthers the nod in the rankings for now. Junior Audrey Gilbert has four goals and two assists through the two Panthers contest. Point Boro has a busy week coming up as they play No.6 Red Bank on Tuesday, Toms River East on Thursday and Freehold Township on Saturday in a week that can make or break their spot in the rankings.
