Week 1 Dick’s House of Sport Football Player of the Week Poll

Welcome to the Week 1 edition of the Shore Conference Football Player of the Week Poll, presented by Dick’s House of Sport.

Each week, Shore Sports Insider will highlight some of the top individual performances from around the Shore Conference and give readers the chance to decide who deserves to be named Shore Conference Football Player of the Week.

Nominees are selected based on statistics and information submitted by coaches or designated team representatives to Shore Sports Insider or entered on the distribution list by noon on Sunday. Only players from teams that won that week are eligible for consideration, and a maximum of one player per team can be nominated. Players who have previously won the Shore Conference Football Player of the Week Poll are not eligible to win the award again during the season.

Check out this week’s nominees and their standout performances below, then cast your vote for the player you think should take home the award. The winner will receive a $50 gift card to Dick’s House of Sport.

Voting for the Week 1 poll closes Tuesday at noon. Users are limited to one vote per hour. The winner will be announced Wednesday.

Week 1 Shore Sports Insider Football Player of the Week nominees (listed in alphabetical order)

 

Connor Acker, Jr., QB, Howell

Acker threw a pair of touchdown passes to lead the Rebels to a 13-7 win over Central.

 

Jack Baker, Sr., LB, Toms River North

Baker compiled a team-high seven tackles, including 3.5 for loss, to lead the Mariners’ defense in a 42-0 shutout of rival Toms River East.

 

Hunter Beattie, Sr., DB, Rumson-Fair Haven

Beattie doubled his interception total from the previous week, snatching two picks from his free safety position to go along with a team-high eight tackles, as the Bulldogs defeated Middletown South, 32-13.

 

Michael Boulard, Jr., RB, Wall

Boulard rumbled for 215 yards and three touchdowns to power the Crimson Knights to a thrilling 42-41 overtime victory over Freehold Township.

 

Caleb Brown-Mason, Sr., QB, Neptune

Brown-Mason was remarkably efficient through the air, completing 7 of 9 passes for 135 yards and two touchdowns while adding 94 rushing yards and another score in Neptune’s 32-6 win over rival Asbury Park.

 

Montrell Carter, Jr., LB, Pinelands

Carter was a playmaker on defense, returning an interception 33 yards for a touchdown and adding two tackles for loss in the Wildcats’ 42-0 win over Freehold Boro.

 

Anthony Christiani, Jr., WR, Middletown North

Christiani was electric in the passing game, hauling in five receptions for 108 yards and two touchdowns, including scoring catches of 50 and 35 yards, as the Lions raced past Lacey 35-6.

 

Ryan Corwin, Jr., QB, Monmouth

Corwin accounted for four touchdowns, two in the air and two on the ground to go along with 190 yards passing and 37 yards rushing, as the Falcons defeated Keyport 40-14.

 

Sean Euell, Jr., RB, Matawan

Euell scored on touchdown runs of 25 and 1 yard to lead the Huskies to an emotional 18-12 victory over rival Raritan, just days after the passing of legendary Matawan head coach Barry Rizzo.

 

Justin Farina, Sr., RB, Ocean

Farina scampered in for two touchdowns and finished with 105 yards rushing, as the Spartans topped Colts Neck 36-20.

 

Joshua Kawka, Sr., LB, Barnegat

Kawka tallied a team-high four tackles and made a game-changing play on defense, forcing a fumble, recovering it and returning it for a touchdown in the Bengals’ 34-0 win over Lakewood.

 

Gabe Kemp, So., RB, Red Bank Catholic

Kemp rushed for 217 yards and four touchdowns on 30 carries, helping the Caseys pull away in the fourth quarter for a 62-41 shootout victory over St. Anthony’s (NY).

 

Joe Livio, Sr., TE/DL, Brick Memorial

Livio was a menace in the opposing backfield, recording seven tackles, including five for loss and two sacks. He also made an impact offensively, hauling in two receptions for 47 yards and a touchdown, as the Mustangs defeated rival Brick 27-14.

 

Santino Martini, So., WR, Shore

Martini hauled in a game-changing 62-yard touchdown reception to help lead the Blue Devils to a 21-13 victory over Point Beach.

 

Mason Morris, Sr., DL, Point Boro

Morris was a disruptive force in the backfield, finishing with seven tackles, including three for loss, to help lead the Panthers to a 20-6 victory over rival Manasquan.

 

Chase Osmun, Jr., LB, Manalapan

Osmun racked up a game-high 17 tackles, including two for loss, to anchor the Braves’ defense in a 36-0 shutout of rival Marlboro.

 

Julian Otey, Sr., FB, Long Branch

Otey scored a one-yard touchdown on the ground and hauled in a 35-yard touchdown through the air as the Green Wave snapped their 14-game losing streak with a dominant 51-0 victory over Keansburg.

 

Brayden Ramos, So., RB/LB, Jackson

Ramos made an impact on both sides of the ball, returning an interception 90 yards for a touchdown, rushing for a 29-yard score and recording six tackles, including one for loss, as the Jaguars defeated Toms River South, 21-10.

 

Sal Reynoso, Sr., K, Donovan Catholic

Reynoso booted a career-long 47-yard field goal and was a perfect 6-for-6 on extra points as the Griffins routed St. John Vianney, 45-13.

 

Janiel Sanchez, Sr., LB, Manchester

Sanchez recorded two sacks to spearhead a dominant defensive effort in the Hawks’ 7-3 victory over New Egypt.

 

Anthony Serini, Jr., WR/DB, Holmdel

Serini was a ball hawk in the secondary, snatching two interceptions, including a pick-six, while also making an impact offensively with a 15-yard touchdown run and a team-high three receptions for 54 yards in Holmdel’s 48-7 win over Red Bank.
