Week 6 Shore Conference Football Division Players of the Week

In addition to our weekly polls where readers can cast their votes for the Shore Conference Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, Shore Sports Insider will select our own players of the week in all three phases for each of the Shore Conference’s seven divisions.

 

Week 6 Shore Conference Football Divison Players of the Week

 

CLASS A NORTH

Offense

Jordan Angstreich, Sr., WR, Rumson-Fair Haven

-Set career-highs again with 10 receptions for 205 yards and a touchdown of 79 yards when the No. 2 Bulldogs defeated No. 3 Red Bank Catholic, 26-11, to clinch at least a share of the Class A North division title.

 

Defense

Carson Memmott, Sr., DB, Rumson-Fair Haven

-Snared a one-handed interception and recovered a fumble in the No. 2 Bulldogs’ 26-11 victory over No. 3 Red Bank Catholic. 

 

Special Teams

Blake Caruso, Jr., K, Red Bank Catholic

-Connected on a Shore Conference-long 45-yard field goal during the No. 3 Caseys’ 26-11 loss to No. 2 Rumson-Fair Haven. He now has field goals of 43, 44 and 45 yards this season and is 18-for-18 on extra points.

 

 

CLASS A SOUTH

Offense

Nick Spanola, So., RB, Point Boro

-Rushed for a career-high 157 yards and three touchdowns on just eight carries and also recovered two fumbles on defense when the No. 4 Panthers won a 27-24 thriller over No. 5 Brick Memorial.

 

Luke Vernieri, Sr., RB, Donovan Catholic

-Had touchdown runs of 31 and 4 yards and caught a 79-yard touchdown pass to help lead the No. 9 Griffins to a 32-7 win over Jackson Memorial.

 

Defense

Colin Obser, Sr., LB, Point Boro

-Recorded 14 tackles, 1 sack, 2 forced fumbles and a safety when the No. 4 Panthers held on for an exciting 27-24 win over No. 5 Brick Memorial.

 

Special Teams

Jack Sullivan, So., K, Point Boro

-Kicked field goals of 28 and 35 yards to help the No. 4 Panthers edge No. 5 Brick Memorial, 27-24, for a key Class A South victory.

 

 

CLASS B NORTH

Offense

Jack Viola, Jr., WR, Middletown North

-Set career highs with 11 receptions for 205 yards and three touchdowns in the No. 6 Lions’ 33-7 win over Red Bank to improve to 6-0. His three receiving touchdowns tied a program single-game record.

 

Defense

Ryan Clark, Jr., DB, Middletown North

Clark intercepted three passes in a 33-7 win over Red Bank and is the first player in the Shore with three interceptions in a game this season.

CLASS B SOUTH

Offense

Justin Silva, Sr., RB, Southern

-Ran for a career-high 142 yards and four touchdowns on just nine carries to lead the Rams to a 28-7 win over Lacey.

 

Defense

Austin Jarvis, Jr., LB, Central

-Recorded 14 tackles, seven of which were solo stops, along with a tackle for loss and a forced fumble when the No. 11 Golden Eagles improved to 7-0 with a 10-7 win over Brick that clinched at least a share of the Class B South division title.

 

Special Teams

Michael Nieves, Jr., K, Central

-Converted a 27-yard field goal in the fourth quarter that snapped a 7-7 tie and sent the No. 11 Golden Eagles to a 10-7 win over Brick that clinched at least a share of the Class B South division title.

 

 

CLASS C NORTH

Offense

Jack Cannon, Jr., QB, Holmdel

-Accounted for an astounding 520 yards of offense and six touchdowns with 352 yards and three touchdowns passing plus 168 yards and three touchdowns rushing to power the No. 7 Hornets to a 56-31 win over Raritan in “The Battle of the Border”.

 

Defense

Dylan Cohen, Jr., LB, Wall

-Made a game-high 11 tackles with two sacks and two tackles for loss to help lead the No. 8 Crimson Knights to a 7-6 win over Manalapan in a key Class C North game.

 

Special Teams

Tony Credle, Sr., Wall

-Credle’s blocked extra point in the fourth quarter was the difference in the No. 8 Crimson Knights’ 7-6 win over Manalapan. 

 

 

CLASS C SOUTH

Offense

Myquan Rush-Esdaile, Sr., RB, Barnegat

-Ran for 101 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries and rushed for a 2-point conversion that proved to be the difference in the Bengals’ 22-21 win over Pinelands.

 

Defense

Johnnel Johnson, Sr., RB, Barnegat

-Made 10 tackles with one tackle for loss and forced and recovered a fumble when the Bengals rallied for a 22-21 win over Pinelands.

 

Special Teams

Ian Spicer, Sr., K, Manchester

-Went 6-for-6 on extra points in the Hawks 42-12 win over Lakewood that clinched a share of the Class C South division title.

 

 

CLASS D NORTH

Offense

Liam Brosnan, Sr. RB, Point Beach

-Ran for 168 yards and a touchdown on 33 carries and added a 2-point conversion run in a 21-14 win over Keyport that gave the Garnet Gulls (4-2) their most wins in a season since 2019.

 

Defense

Tommy Schroeder, Sr., LB, Shore

-Tallied 15 total tackles (9 solo), 1 tackle for loss, 1 Sack, 3 forced fumbles and a fumble recovery when the Blue Devils rallied for a 27-21 win over Neptune to remain undefeated and clinch at least a share of the Class D North division championship
