Jackson 11, Pinelands 10
Jackson (3-3, 3-2) scored five runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to defeat Pinelands (2-5, 1-4) in a rematch of last season’s Ocean County Tournament final. Sophomore Mia Ingenito went 4-for-5, coming up a home run short of the cycle. Grace Cannata and Ingenito both drove in two runs and Ingenito scored three times. Senior Emily Hersh eared the victory for Jackson.
Seniors Audra Daniel and Jozlyn Peterson both had three hits for Pinelands with Daniel driving two runs in.
No. 2 Donovan Catholic 14, Southern 2
Central 10, Point Boro 7
Junior Grace Ostapovich hit a walk-off three-run home run to lift Central (5-2, 3-2) over division rival Point Boro (1-5, 1-4). Central led 4-1 after four innings and 7-4 after the 5th inning, but Point Boro kept clawing back. Senior Jaelynn Witte went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI’s and Madison Ryan drove in two runs for Central. Sophomore Hailey Craddock struck out seven batters to earn the victory
Junior Arden Schatzman went 3-for-4 with a home run and drove in three runs for Point Boro.
Independence
No. 7 Barnegat 1, Brick Memorial 0 (8 innings)
Junior pitcher Gianna Gomez struck out 22 batters and allowed just three hits, as the Bengals (7-0, 5-0) edged the Mustangs (0-6, 0-5) in a pitcher’s duel. Senior CF Brianna Dato scored the game-winning run on an infield pop fly from sophomore 2B Brooke Rizzo that was mishandled by the Mustangs. Dato doubled earlier in the inning to put herself in position for the winning run.
Junior pitcher Avery Nalducci struck out 12 batters and allowed just three hits and two walks in the loss, in addition to hitting a double. Junior SS Carly Hobbs went 2-for-3.
Toms River East 9, Point Beach 0
Toms River South 14, New Egypt 5
It took a whole to get going, but once they did Toms River South (4-2, 3-2) poured it on, scoring 13 out of their 14 runs in the final three innings. Samantha DiNicola went 3-for-4 with two doubles and drove in five runs to lead the Indians. Mikayla Lindemann added three hits with two of them being doubles and drove in one run. Brooke Kopkins earned the win on the mound.
Freshman Samantha Garcia went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored and Samantha Potts went 2-for-2 with a double and RBI for New Egypt
Liberty
Manchester 10, Rumson-Fair Haven 0 (6 Innings)
Manchester (3-3, 2-2) scored three runs in the bottom of the 1st inning to jump out in front of Rumson (0-1,0-1) and ended the game in the bottom of the 6th inning with four runs. Freshman Isabella Cellini-Winters drove in two runs and scored three times for the Hawks. Christine Flanagan went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Riley Cribbin had a double and a run scored. Gabriella Minneci struck out four batters to earn the victory.
Toms River North 11, Trinity Hall 1 (6 Innings)
Toms River North (4-1, 4-0) got the scoring in the 2nd inning and scored two runs in every inning with the exception of the 6th where they scored three runs to end the game. Lilly Bossow went 4-for-4 with a double and scored three times and Gia Martone added three hits and drove in three runs for the Mariners. Alexa Iovine struck out five batters to earn the win.
Junior Emma Mullins struck out 13 batters for Trintiy Hall (1-2, 1-1).
Lacey 6, Red Bank 4
Lacey (2-5, 2-1) jumped on division rival Red Bank (1-5, 0-4), scoring five runs in the top of the 1st inning and added an insurance run in the 2nd inning to put an end to their three game losing streak. Freshman Marley Lombardi struck out 15 batters to earn her first career victory for the Lions. Junior Kylie Crane went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs for the Lions and Chloe Emmons went 3-for-3 at the plate.
Junior Madison Ptak went 2-for-3 at the plate for Red Bank.
Patriot
Brick 11, Neptune 3
Trailing 3-1 going into the bottom of the 5th inning, Brick (3-1, 3-1) scored eight runs to defeat division rival Neptune (1-3, 1-3). Senior Sicilia Booker struck out 15 batters for the Dragons to earn the victory. Senior Jordan Mulhearn went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and Laney Anza scored two runs and drove one in for Brick.
Non-Division
No. 10 Raritan 5, No. 9 Freehold Boro 2
Trailing 2-1 after two innings, Raritan (6-2) scored two runs in the 3rd and added two insurance runs in the bottom of the 5th to hand Freehold Boro (6-1) their first loss of the season. Sophomore Lila Houlihan went 2-for-3 and drove in the both runs on a single in the 3rd inning to give the Rockets the lead. Houlihan also struck out 10 batters to earn the victory. Junior SS Holly Bellofatto reached based four times and scored two runs with a double, single, walk and HBP. Bellofatto drove in Janelle Clausi in the 5th inning after Clausi tripled to start the inning.
Nyla Bartuck led Freehold Boro with three hits going 3-for-4.
Middletown North 14, Wall 5
Trailing 3-2 going into the sixth inning, Middletown North (2-5) scored six runs in the top of the 6th and the top of 7th inning to beat Wall (1-5) in a non-divisional game. Aubrey Borchers and Alex Goins both hit two home runs and Abby Esposito added a fifth home run for the Lions. Borchers finsihed 3-for-5 with three RBI’s and Goins drove in five runs for Middletown North. Borchers struck out 14 batters to earn the victory.
Sophomore Essie Harr hit a three-run home run for Wall and Mackenzie Williams went 2-for-3 with a RBI.
No. 1 St. John Vianney 10, St. Rose 0
St. John Vianney (6-0) scored three runs in the 2nd inning and six in the 3rd inning to put the game out of reach and defeat St. Rose (4-4) in a non-divisional game. Senior Madison McDougall struck out all nine batters she faced and Emily Kissner added four strike outs in two innings of work for the Lancers. Juniors Brynn Utter and Mia Favato both drove in three runs for SJV.
Non-Conference
No. 6 Marlboro 10, Old Bridge 6
After giving up two runs in the top of the 1st inning, Marlboro (3-2) responded with five runs in the bottom of the inning and added five more runs over the next three innings to defeat Old Bridge in a non-conference game. Junior Ashlee Chen went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI’s and Emily Gaudio hit two doubles and drove in three runs to lead the Mustangs. Gaudio recorded her 400th career strike out after striking eight batters our in the win.
Senior Danielle Flores went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI’s for Old Bridge.
