American

No. 1 St. John Vianney 6, No. 4 Red Bank Catholic 0

St. John Vianney (7-0, 4-0) crossed the plate in the first three innings to build a 4-0 lead over rival RBC (3-3, 2-3) and added two insurance runs late to remain undefeated and stay on top of the American Division. Senior Gabby Gonzalez went 4-for-4 with a RBI and Madison McDougall went 2-for-4 with a double and RBI to lead the Lancers. McDougall struck out 17 batters and only allowed one hit to earn the victory.

Junior Grace Lombardi led the game off with a double for RBC, the teams lone base runner.

No. 3 Middletown South 9, No. 5 Colts Neck 1

Middletown South (5-1, 4-1) took advantage of six Colts Neck (2-3, 2-2) and scored four runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning to build a 5-0 lead. The win keeps the Eagles one game behind SJV in the American Division. Junior Celia Collings went 4-for-4 with a double and RBI at the plate for Middletown South. Mia Collins went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI’s and Jordyn Cowell had a double and drove in a run. Junior Riley Smith struck out six batters to earn the victory for the Eagles.

Angela Sasso went 2-for-4 with a double and Gabriella Saveriano drove in the Colts Neck run. Sasso also returned to the mound, striking out five batters and only allowed one earned run in 2.2 IP.

No. 6 Marlboro 5,  Middletown North 0

Senior Emily Gaudio struck out 12 batters and only allowed one hit to lead Marboro (4-2, 2-2) to a division win over Middletown North (2-6, 0-5). Marlboro scored two runs in the top of the 1st and three more in the top of the 2nd to give Gaudio all the run support she needed. Gaudio also went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and three RBI’s. Isabella Wuelfing went 2-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored for the Mustangs.

Brianna Soto hit a double in the bottom of the 7th to break up the no-hitter.

Colonial

Matawan 9, Howell 5

After giving up a run in the top of the 1st inning, Matawan (3-3, 3-2) responded with five runs in the bottom of the inning and continued to build on their win to defeat division rival Howell (3-4, 1-4). Emma Kriegstein went 2-for-3 with three RBI’s and Alexis Wilk went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI’s for Matawan. Kriegstein struck out six batters in the victory.

Sophomores Katelyn Murphy and Hannah Bowers both had one double and two singles for Howell. Bowers finished with two RBI’s and Muprhy had one run batted in and two runs scored.

No. 10 Raritan 12, Wall 6

No. 8 Holmdel 2, Freehold Township 0

Junior Natalie Clifford broke a scoreless game in the bottom of the 4th on a 1-2 count with a home run to center field, her second of the season, to give Holmdel (5-0, 5-0) a 1-0 lead. Holmdel would add a run in the 5th inning, but would not need. Senior Julia Henderson struck out 13 batters and only allowed two hits to earn the win. Henderson also collected two hits in the game.

Junior Kiana DeMonte struck out seven batters for Freehold Township (1-3, 1-3).

Constitution

Ocean 12,  No. 9 Freehold Boro 11

Trailing 6-2 going into the 4th inning, Ocean (4-1, 4-1) scored five runs in the  4th inning and five runs in the 5th inning to take a 10-6 lead and hung on to hand Freehold Boro (6-2, 4-1) their first loss in the Constitution Division. Junior Ryleigh Cerco went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI’s and Colleen Zdan drove in three runs, going 3-for-5 with a double. Freshman Taylor Scotto also added three hits, coming up a home run shy of going for the cycle.

Freehold Boro climbed back into after trailing 11-6. The Colonials scored two runs in the 6th and three in the bottom of the 7th inning. The tying run was on 2nd base, but they could not get it home. Sophomore Julia Mariconda had a double and drove in three runs and Katherine Martin doubled and drove in two for Freehold Boro.

Manasquan 12, Monmouth 5

Manasquan (2-4, 2-3) responded to Monmouth’s (2-4, 1-4) run in the top of the 1st inning with five in the bottom of the 1st and added five more in the 4th to earn a division win. Senior Delia Gilmore went 3-for-3 with two home runs, a double and five RBI’s to lead the Warriors. Freshman Devyn Weber hit a home run and triple and four RBI’s. Gilmore struck out 15 batters to earn the victory.

Freshman Isabella Ruiz went 3-for-4 and Samantha Mahoney went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a RBI for Monmouth.

Shore 13, Manalapan 2

Shore (5-2, 3-2) jumped out early on Manalapan (1-7, 1-3) to pick-up a division win. The Blue Devils scored four runs in the 1st, two in the 2nd and six in the 3rd to build a 12-2 lead. Senior Dylann Lawrence went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and collected her 100th career hit. Senior Olivia DeFonce went 2-for-4 with a home run and double and two RBI’s. Freshman Kayla Delia hit her first two career home runs and drove in four runs for Shore.

Patriot

Brick 13, Lakewood 2

Henry Hudson 11, Keyport 6

Trailing 4-0 going into the bottom of the 4th inning, Henry Hudson (2-2, 2-1) battled back with two runs in the 4th, four runs in the 5th and five in the 6th to defeat Keyport (4-2, 3-2) in a division game. Sophomore Leah Curry went 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBI’s and Addison Kosakowski had a triple and two RBI’s to lead Henry Hudson. Sophomore Lucia Fariello struck out eight batters to earn the victory.

Senior Nicolette Sickles went 3-for-5 with three RBI’s for Keyport and Jalyssa Soto drove in two more runs.

Keansburg 17, Long Branch 7 (5 Innings)

It was a back and forth game until Keansburg (5-0, 5-0) scored seven runs for the second time in the game in the 4th inning and take a 17-7 lead. Trailing 1-0 after one inning, Keansburg scored seven runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning to take a 7-1 lead. Long Branch (0-5, 0-5)fought right back to score five runs in the top of the 3rd inning to make it 7-6. Senior Gabriella Flanzbaum went 2-for-2 with a double, two runs scored and three RBI’s. Sophomore Ariella Buchanan went 3-for-4 with a double and three runs scored and Gianna Cruz went 4-for-4 with a double and two RBI’s for Keansburg. Freshman Meadow Knapp earned the win and Lillian Boccio struck out four batters in relief.

Non-Division

Trinity Hall 11, Neptune 0 (5 Innings)

Junior Emma Mullins struck out 13 batters and only allowed three hits to lead Trinity Hall (2-2) to a non-divisional win over Neptune (1-4). Trinity Hall scored eight runs in the top of the 2nd inning to take a 10-0 lead. Mullins also had a stellar game at the plate, going 2-for-2 with two home runs, two walks and driving in six runs. Sophomore Brooke Werdann had a double and three runs scored and Helen Taylor drove in two runs for the Monarchs.
