No. 3 Middletown South 13, Middletown North 6
After giving up a run in the 1st inning, Middletown South (5-1) scored five runs in the top of the 2nd inning and broke a 5-5 tie with three runs in the top of the 5th to defeat crosstown rival Middletown North (1-4). Junior Nora Sarcone went 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBI’s and Celia Collings drove in three runs on two hits for the Eagles. Junior Riley Smith struck out eight batters on the mound and collected three hits for Middletown South.
Sophomore Abby Esposito drove in two runs on two hits and Julie Frontera scored two runs and added hits for Middletown North.
No. 6 Marlboro 2, No. 5 Red Bank Catholic 1 (10 innings)
Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the 3rd inning, Marlboro (2-1) came from behind and defeated RBC (2-2) in 10 innings to pick-up an important division win. Sophomore Samantha Gellis hit a solo home run to tie the game in the bottom of the 3rd inning for the Mustangs. Senior Emily Gaudio hit a walk-off single and drove in Gellis in the bottom of the 10th. Gaudio also struck out 13 batters to earn the victory.
Sophomore Mackenna Savage struck out 14 batters for the Caseys. Sophomore Brooke Rodriguez drove in Vivian Rudolph in the top of the 3rd to give RBC their only run.
No. 1 St. John Vianney 11, No. 4 Colts Neck 0 (5 innings)
Senior pitcher Madison McDougall struck out 13 batters and allowed just one hit and one walk as the Lancers (3-0, 3-0) routed the Cougars (1-2, 1-2). Junior Brynn Utter went 4-for-4 with a home run and two RBI’s. McDougall went 3-for-4 at the plate with a home run and three RBI’s. Sophomore Lexie Csontos finished 2-for-3 with a solo home run.
Colts Neck senior pitcher Angela Sasso batted but did not pitch due to an undisclosed injury.
Colonial
No. 9 Raritan 19, Howell 2 (4 Innings)
Raritan (3-1) struck early, scoring five runs in the 1st and three in the 2nd on their way to a division win against Howell (2-2). Junior Holly Bellofatto had a monster of a game, going 3-for-3 with two home runs, four runs scored and five RBI’s for the Rockets. One of the home runs was a grand slam. Junior Madison Regiec went 3-for-3 with a triple and three runs scored and Lila Houlihan also went yard and drove inn four runs for Raritan. Houlihan also earned the victory, striking out five batters.
Freehold Township 17, Wall 2
No. 8 Holmdel 12, Matawan 7
Constitution
Monmouth 10, Manalapan 9
Monmouth (2-2) scored in the first four innings to build an 8-2 lead and held on to win their first divisional game against Manalapan (1-2). Senior Jordyn Diefes struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings to earn the victory. Diefes also did it with the bat, going 3-for-5 with a home run and five RBI’s. Freshman Isabella Ruiz drove in three RBI’s on two hits to help Monmouth.
Shore 15, Ocean 13
After building a 15-5 lead going into the 5th inning, Shore (4-2) was able to hold on and stop Ocean Township’s (2-1) rally and win 15-13. Senior Olivia DeFonce went 4-for-5 with a home run, double and four RBI’s to lead the Blue Devils. Sophomore Allegra Minner was a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI’s for Shore.
Junior Ryleigh Cerco went 3-for-5 with two home runs and drove in three runs for Ocean and Colleen Zdan added three hits and drove in three runs.
No. 10 St. Rose 5, Manasquan 3
After giving up three runs in the top of the 1st inning, St. Rose (4-2) battled back and scored one in the bottom of the 1st and scored three in the bottom of the 2nd to take control and defeat rival Manasquan (0-4). Senior Emily Torresdal struck out 14 batters and only allowed on earned run to earn the victory. Freshman Emma Andretta went 2-for-4 and drove in three runs for the Roses.
Patriot
Keyport 17, Lakewood 7 (5 innings)
Freshman Madison Ortiz went 2-for-2 with a triple and five RBI’s as the Red Raiders (4-0, 3-0) defeated the Piners (0-2, 0-1). Senior Ava Mitchell was 2-for-2 with a triple and three RBI’s. Senior Nicolette Sickles finished 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBI’s.
Henry Hudson 20, Long Branch 1 (4 innings)
Sophomore pitcher Leah Curry struck out eight batters and allowed three hits and two walks as the Admirals (1-0, 1-0) routed the Green Wave (0-3, 0-3). Senior C Alex Belusko went 2-for-4 with four RBI’s. Freshman 3B Molly Hensle was 2-for-2 with two walks and three RBI’s. Curry was 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBI’s and four runs. Senior 2B Madison Smallze finished 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, and two RBI’s. Freshman DH Addison Kosakowski went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBI’s.
Non-Division
Point Beach 13, Lacey 2
Point Beach (3-2) took advantage of seven errors by Lacey (1-4) to score 13 runs on only three hits to pick-up a non-divisional win. Junior Gia Gates only gave up three hits and struck out three batters to earn the win. Bridget Kane and Faith Schlik both had a hit and two runs scored for Point Beach.
Sophomore Bella Byk struck out 13 batters in a losing effort. Freshman Savannah Wilkins had a two-run double for Lacey.
