Week 5 Dick’s House of Sport Football Player of the Week Poll
Welcome to the Week 5 edition of the Shore Conference Football Player of the Week Poll, presented by Dick’s House of Sport.
Each week, Shore Sports Insider will highlight some of the top individual performances from around the Shore Conference and give readers the chance to decide who deserves to be named Shore Conference Football Player of the Week.
Nominees are selected based on statistics and information submitted by coaches or designated team representatives to Shore Sports Insider or entered on the distribution list by noon on Sunday. Only players from teams that won that week are eligible for consideration, and a maximum of one player per team can be nominated. Players who have previously won the Shore Conference Football Player of the Week Poll are not eligible to win the award again during the season.

Voting for the Week 5 poll closes Tuesday at noon. Users are limited to one vote per hour. The winner will be announced Thursday.

Week 5 Shore Sports Insider Football Player of the Week nominees (listed in alphabetical order)
Cameron Berardesco, So., WR, Asbury Park
Berardesco accounted for all three touchdowns in the Blue Bishops’ 19-0 victory over Keyport, hauling in touchdown receptions of 30 and 10 yards while adding a 12-yard rushing score.
Sal Bruno, Sr., K, Monmouth
Bruno provided the decisive points in a defensive slugfest, drilling a 22-yard field goal that stood as the game’s only score until the Falcons added a safety to secure a 5-0 victory over Brick.
Aidan Dombrowsky, Sr., DL, Point Boro
Dombrowsky spearheaded a dominant defensive performance in the Panthers’ 29-7 victory over Lacey, recording a team-high seven tackles and adding a sack to help keep the Lions’ offense in check.
Justin Farina, Sr., WR/DB, Ocean
Farina contributed on both sides of the ball in the Spartans’ 42-7 victory over Long Branch, catching three passes for 61 yards, including a 19-yard touchdown, while adding an interception and two tackles on defense.
Levi Foote, Sr., RB/DL, Southern
Foote delivered on both sides of the ball, rushing for 108 yards and three touchdowns on just 10 carries while adding six tackles and a sack on defense in the Rams’ 28-3 win over Central.
Trevor Freyer, Jr., QB, Manchester
Freyer powered the Hawks’ offense in a 29-26 victory over Keansburg, accounting for three touchdowns with two rushing scores and one through the air while also running in a two-point conversion.
Derek Grasso, Jr., QB, Middletown North
Grasso delivered an efficient performance through the air in the Lions’ 27-6 victory over St. John Vianney, completing 13 of 20 passes and tossing two touchdowns.
JJ Jenkins, Sr., QB, Pinelands
Jenkins made the most of his opportunities through the air in the Wildcats’ 33-0 victory over Lakewood, completing 5 of 6 passes for 79 yards and three touchdowns in an efficient performance.
Zach Johnson, Jr., WR/DB, Matawan
Johnson made his presence felt all over the field, piling up 10 tackles, including one for a loss, and recovering a fumble on defense while catching two passes for 60 yards and a touchdown and adding an 18-yard run on offense.
Chance Joseph, So., WR/DB, Barnegat
Joseph made an impact in all three phases, catching four passes for 40 yards and two touchdowns while electrifying the special teams unit with a 61-yard punt return for a score. He also contributed three tackles on defense to round out an all-around performance in a 35-0 win over New Egypt.
Anthony Kokotis, So., QB, Freehold Township
Stepping in for injured starter Dakota Lasater, Kokotis delivered a strong performance under center, throwing for 198 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Patriots to a 35-8 victory over rival Freehold Boro.
Nick LaForge, Sr., LB, Howell
LaForge was all over the field defensively in the Rebels’ 38-7 victory over Jackson, piling up 11 tackles, including two for a loss, while adding a fumble recovery and an interception.
Anthony Marrano, Sr., DL, Toms River South
Marrano was a constant presence in the backfield during the Indians’ 34-6 victory over Colts Neck, registering three sacks and finishing with six total tackles to lead a strong defensive effort.
Parker Needham, Sr., QB, Raritan
Needham accounted for three touchdowns in the Rockets’ 35-7 victory over Toms River East, completing 7 of 12 passes for 112 yards and two scores while adding 59 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Jaxon Pacheco, Sr., OL/DL, Brick Memorial
Pacheco wreaked havoc in the trenches on both sides of the ball in the Mustangs’ 41-14 victory over Neptune. He recorded five tackles, including three for a loss, while helping pave the way for a Brick Memorial rushing attack that piled up 213 yards.
Matt Scheinman, Sr., RB/DB, Holmdel
Scheinman lived in the Middletown South backfield, piling up 15 tackles, five tackles for loss and two sacks to help fuel a 12-0 shutout victory.
Alex Staten, Sr., RB, Donovan Catholic
Staten turned in a record-setting performance in the Griffins’ 51-13 victory over Rumson-Fair Haven, exploding for a school-record 371 rushing yards with touchdown runs of 55 and 53 yards while adding an 18-yard touchdown reception.
Wesley Tanner, Sr., QB/WR, Toms River North
Filling in for injured starter Cole Garrison, Tanner delivered three touchdowns in the Mariners’ 29-23 victory over Manalapan, scoring on runs of 30 and eight yards while adding a 65-yard touchdown reception.
