South Jersey Non-Public A

(3) CBA 55, (14) St. John Vianney 28

Senior Kevin Pikiell scored a game-high 17 points and the Colts (20-4) shut down the Lancers (9-18) to advance to Monday’s sectional quarterfinal round, which CBA will host against the winner of No. 11 Pingry at No. 6 Immaculata.

Junior Charlie Marcoullier led a balanced supporting effort on offense with eight points, while senior Justin Fuerbacher and sophomore David Buley added seven apiece for CBA.

Sophomore Justin Togans led St. John Vianney with 11 points.

(5) Union Catholic 85, (12) Donovan Catholic 38

Senior Luke Schorr led a balanced scoring effort that included 15 different scorers and the Vikings (16-10) coasted into the sectional quarterfinals Monday at Camden Catholic with a first-round win over the Griffins (11-14).

Schorr — who played spent his first two years of high school at Rumson-Fair Haven — finished with 15 points. Senior James Gibbons matched him with a game-high 15 points to lead Donovan Catholic, while sophomore Gabe Feliciano chipped in 12 in the loss.

(10) Notre Dame 63, (7) Red Bank Catholic 48

Senior Ryan Prior scored 21 points in his final game to finish No. 2 in Red Bank Catholic’s all-time scoring list in boys basketball, but the Irish (16-11) topped the Caseys (14-12) behind a strong second-half showing to reach the sectional quarterfinals Monday at No. 2 St. Peter’s Prep.

Prior also grabbed eight rebounds and senior Sean Saxton closed out his RBC career with 12 points. Will Foley scored 17 points to lead Notre Dame, which scored the first nine points of the third quarter to break a 21-21 halftime tie and never looked back.

 

South Jersey Non-Public B

(8) Ranney 88, (9) Doane Academy 57

Junior Shaan Nayar led four Ranney scorers in double-figures with 20 points and the Panthers (13-10) blew open their first-round game just before halftime and routed the Spartans (14-11) to earn a sectional quarterfinal shot at No. 1 St. Rose.

Nayar had only three points through the first 14 minutes of action, but hit a pair of three-pointers to key an 8-0 run by Ranney to close the first half and put the Panthers ahead, 38-25, going into the locker room. Nayar finished with six of Ranney’s 15 three-pointers as a team while also contributing six rebounds and three assists.

Sophomore Alex Heyser scored 12 of his 14 points in the second half and handed out five assists for Ranney, while classmate Andrew Mardahaev added 13 points, six rebounds and three blocked shots. Senior MeSean Williams fired in 12 points and dished out four assists in the win.
