No. 1 Colts Neck 3, No. 3 CBA 2

Moore opened the scoring in the 20th minute when he ran down a long pass from junior Gabe Kruglyansky and knocked it into an open net from 25 yards out after goalkeeper Sean Najdzinowicz came out of the goal in an attempt to beat Moore to the ball.
Fifty-five seconds later, sophomore Sean Moore won the ball on the right side of the 18-yard box, spun away from a defender and drew a trip on Najdzinowicz that prompted a penalty kick. Sean Moore took the kick and buried the attempt to give Colts Neck a 2-0 lead in the 21st minute.
After Colts Neck took a 2-0 lead into halftime, CBA played a dominant 15 minutes to start the second on the way to tying the game. Following a long throw-in, senior Brandon Ortiz struck a low shot through a sea of defenders that slipped through Colts Neck goalkeeper Justin Appel’s legs, hit a nearby Colts Neck player and with the inside of the side netting to pull CBA within 2-1 in the 53rd minute.
In the 57th, the Colts pulled even on a header by senior Nick Tesauro off a deep cross to the far-right post by senior Carlos Cano. Tesauro’s headed sent the ball back to the left side of the net, giving Appel little chance to stop the shot.
Three minutes after his team gave up the lead, Kyle Moore took a pass forward from his younger brother, took on three defenders and calmly drilled a 12-yard shot into the far side netting for a 3-2 Colts Neck lead.
Both goalkeepers came up with huge saves in the second half — Appel to momentarily keep the score 2-1 and Najdzinowicz to keep Colts Neck’s lead at 3-2. Appel made a leaping save on a long strike from CBA junior James Brady in the 49th minute, knocking the ball over the crossbar. In the 72nd, Sean Moore broke loose in the box with his second goal — and a 4-2 Colts Neck lead — in his line of vision, but Najdzinowicz rejected the close-range attempt.

Meanwhile, Long Branch junior Chris De Oliveira Santos narrowly missed scoring on three separate occasions during the first half, with Shore goalkeeper Thomas Wenner saving two of them and De Oliveira Santos clanging the left post on the other.

Long Branch finally broke through with the game’s second goal in the 54th minute, when sophomore Matheus Lopes headed in a pass into the box from junior Christian Gomez. Two minutes earlier, Shore sophomore Silvio Pessoa hit a left-footed shot off the far-left post that nearly crossed into the goal, but Rodas plucked it out of the air before it broached the goal-line.
Silva capped the scoring in the 68th minute, with De Oliveira Santos sliding him the pass for the assist.
Long Branch entered the Coaches Cup with a 2-10 record but with its four-game winning streak to win the title, the Green Wave are now sporting a positive goal-differential for the season (35-27).
