2025-2026 Shore Sports Insider Girls Basketball Week 2 Top 10

 

1. Red Bank Catholic (6-1) Last Week: 1 – The Caseys won both of their games in the inaugural Kevin Williams Christmas Classic Showcase before dropping their first game of the season against nationally ranked Long Island Lutheran at the Blue Star Invitational at Jefferson University. The Caseys rallied to defeat Rutgers Prep after trailing by 12 points in the third quarter, 58-42 behind 25 points, eight rebounds, and five assists from senior Indiana commit Addy Nyemchek. The Caseys also defeated Teaneck, 69-42, getting 25 points from Senior Rhode Island commit Katie Liggio. Red Bank Catholic has two difficult divisional road games this week as they travel to No. 2 St. John Vianney on January 6th at 6 p.m. and No. 9 St Rose on January 8th at 5:30 pm.

2. St. John Vianney (6-0) Last Week: 2 – The Lancers remain undefeated after dominating their three games in the KSA Holiday Invitational in Kissimmee, Florida and earning a hard fought victory over St. John’s College at the Blue Star Invitational at Jefferson University. St. John Vianney defeated Bayside (FL) 65-23; Prosser (WA) 77-55; and Cherokee (GA) 55-47. The Lancers return home for three games this week against No. 1 Red Bank Catholic on January 6th at 6 p.m., No. 6 Rumson-Fair Haven on January 8th at 5:30 p.m., and Xaverian (NY) on January 10th at 1 p.m. A win against Red Bank Catholic would likely vault the Lancers into the number one spot.

3. Manasquan ( 7-0) Last Week: 5 – The Warriors remain undefeated over the holiday break, going 4-0 and improving their record to 7-0 as they head into Class A North action. The Warriors had no trouble in the Holmdel Holiday Showcase with convincing wins over Somerville and Hudson Catholic. Manasquan defeated Point Boro on New Year’s Eve in a game that was postponed two weeks ago due to a wet floor. The Warriors biggest win of the season-to-date came on Saturday against No. 3 Trinity Hall. Manasquan’s defense held the Monarchs to nine points over the last three quarters to win 38-23. Senior Jordyn Hollawell leads Manasquan in scoring with 14.5 PPG. The Warriors will host No. 9 St. Rose on Monday to start their division schedule and No. 5 Red Bank on Thursday. Manasquan hosts Chatham on Saturday in a non-conference game.

4. Trinity Hall (6-1) Last Week: 3 – Trinity Hall finished the holiday slate 6-1 after going 2-0 in the Score at the Shore Showcase at Southern and then dropping their first game of the season against No. 3 Manasquan. The Monarchs defeated perennial state power Lenape 64-62 behind 27 points from senior Grace Feeney. Trinity Hall then defeated our Lady of Mercy 66-25, getting a career-high 18 points from freshman Ella Krayl. In the Warrior Classic Showcase at Manasquan, Trinity Hall lost their first game of the season to Manasquan 38-23. The Monarchs have two road division games this week: at Holmdel on January 6th and at Ranney on January 8th before taking on Red Bank in a non-division contest on the road on January 10th in the Coaches vs Cancer event at Donovan Catholic.

 

5. Red Bank (6-0) Last Week: 4 – Red Bank remains undefeated after going 3-0 at the Blue Devil Holiday Showcase at Shore. The Bucs defeated Shore 51-35; Long Branch 41-18; and Raritan 48-6. Red Bank will be tested this week with two division games: January 5th vs Rumson-Fair Haven and January 8th at Manasquan before taking on Trinity Hall in a non-division game on January 10th in the Coaches vs Cancer Showcase at Donovan Catholic.

 

6. Rumson-Fair Haven (7-0) Last Week: 7- The Bulldogs continued their early season surge, improving their record to 7-0. Rumson-Fair Haven won the Ray Cervino Bracket in the Kevin Williams Christmas Classic, defeating Manchester 55-36 in the first round, Toms River East 50-41 in the semifinal, and Howell 54-51 in the championship game. Brown commit Erin Reid averaged 19 points and 14 boards during the Christmas Classic, taking home Most Valuable Player honors. The Bulldogs also defeateded Shore, 52-38, in a non-division matchup. Rumson-Fair Haven starts the week with two divisional matchups: January 5th at Red Bank and January 8th at St. John Vianney. They end their week on January 10th when they host Middletown North.

7. Howell (5-1) Last Week: 8- Howell went 2-1 in the Kevin Williams Christmas Classic as they defeated Central 47-35 in the first round before defeating Brick 40-37 in the semifinals. Howell dropped their first game of the season in the Ray Cervino championship game, 54-51, in a battle against Rumson-Fair Haven. Junior Kylee Beam had a great showing, earning all-tournament honors.  The Rebels have some tough games this coming week: January 5th vs Wall; January 7th at Brick; January 8th at Colts Neck; and January 10th at Toms River East.

8. Colts Neck (5-2) Last Week : 9- The Cougars, after starting the season 2-2, are now 5-2 after winning both of their games in the Holmdel Holiday Invitational. Colts Neck defeated Piscataway 78-47 and Somerville 52-40. The Cougars also defeated Toms River East, 56-42, in a non-divisional matchup. They have two games this week: January 6th vs Ranney and January 8th vs Howell.

 

9. St. Rose (1-4) Last Week: 10- The Purple Roses took part in the first Kevin Williams Christmas Classic Showcase during the holidays. St. Rose lost to Rutgers Prep who was ranked fourth in the state according to NJ Advance Media, 58-17, in a game they played without leading scorer Brooke Missry. Missry more than made up for missing the Rutgers Prep game, returning to post a 27-point effort in a 76-45 win over Teaneck, a team that started the season ranked in the top 20 in New Jersey. St Rose’s gauntlet schedule continues this week as they face No. 3 Manasquan on January 5th and No. 1 Red Bank Catholic on January 8th.

10. Neptune (3-0) Last Week: Not Ranked – Neptune won two games in the Shore Regional Holiday Invitational. They opened with a 46-43 win over Shore. Sophomore Tyeera Howard posted a double-double with 15 points and 16 rebounds. Howard followed that up with a season-high 17 points against Freehold Township to lead Neptune to 47-39 victory. The Scarlet Fliers will start divisional play in Class A Central on Tuesday when they host Middletown South. On Thursday, they host Freehold Boro.

 

Bubble: Toms River East, Brick, Point Boro
