Middletown North 8, St. Rose 1
Seniors Josiah Stepney and Ryan Barnao each scored two goals and juniors Paul Que and Cameron DelGrosso each had a goal and multiple assists to lead the Lions (1-1, 1-1) to a rout of the Purple Roses (1-2, 0-1) for their first win of the season. Stepney also assisted the goal by Que, who assisted three goals in the win. DelGrosso scored off one of the Que assists and also assisted both Barnao’s goals.
Junior Christos Dounis and Senio Aiden Dinella each scored a goal for Middletown North.
Non-Division
Brick Memorial 2, Manchester 0
Junior Elin Torres assisted goals by senior Declan Smith and sophomore Nate Stryker and the Mustangs (1-0-1) held down the Hawks (1-2) for their first win of the season. Smith gave Brick Memorial a 1-0 lead in the first half and Stryker added his goal in the 78th minute to ice the victory for the Mustangs.
No. 8 Manalapan 4, St. John Vianney 1
Junior Ethan Lustig assisted the first goal of the game by senior Christian Laverde, the rolled up a hat trick to carry the Braves (2-0) to another strong showing — this time beating the Lancers (1-1). After Lustig served up a cross for the Laverde finish in the 14th minute, he scored one for himself in the 34th on an eight-yard shot that put Manalapan ahead, 2-0.
Lustig converted a penalty kick in the 56th to stretch Manalapan’s lead to 3-1 and he capped the scoring in the 64th minute off a feed from junior Dan Altman.
Central 10, Pinelands 1
Junior Ilyas Ciltepe and senior Blake Crutchley each scored two goals while sophomore Danny Palheta pitched in a goal and three assists as the Golden Eagles coasted to a season-opening win over the Wildcats (1-3).
Point Boro 3, Jackson Liberty 1
Sophomore Sean Hankins broke a scoreless deadlock with two goals in a span of three minutes early in the second half and the Panthers (1-0) opened their season with a win over the Lions (0-1-1).
Hankins scored in the 45th minute off a pass from senior Liam Shand and again in the 48th with a pass from junior Braedan Moramarco to make it 2-0. Senior Rich Kosek drew Jackson Liberty within 2-1 with a goal in the 58th minute, but Noah McGinn answered with Point Boro’s third goal in the 61st off a feed from fellow senior Ty Friedman.
No. 4 Southern 8, No. 9 Shore 0
Seniors Aidan Donnelly and Kaan Zenger each scored two goals and the Rams (3-0) steamrolled the Blue Devils (1-1) to add to their hot start to the season. Junior Brody Nacarlo added a goal off an assist from senior Nick Prosperi and also dished out two assists, while seniors Brody Reynolds, Jefferson Rubi Cruz and Joao Almeida each scored a goal in the Southern rout.
Jackson Memorial 3, Asbury Park 1
Junior Colin Williams scored his first goal of the season to open the scoring before senior Alex Penswater and junior Tristan Nikitin each scored their second in the first three games to lead the Jaguars to a win over the Blue Bishops (1-2) and a 3-0 start.
