Non-Division

Toms River North 9, Lacey 8 (8 Innings)

Ian St. Luce ripped a game-winning RBI single to leftfield with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning and the Mariners (10-12) walked off with a win over the Lions (14-8). St. Luce (2-for-4), Cole Garrison (2-for-3), Owen Stefan and Bryce Kazanowsky (2-for-4) each had two hits for Toms River North, with Stefan and Kazanowsky each driving in two runs as well. Toms River North tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the seventh, including a game-tying sacrifice fly by Kazanowsky.

Joe Geiger led the Lacey offense with three RBI in a 2-for-4 game at the plate while Nate Baran also tripled and drove in a run.

Wall 6, Monmouth 1

Sophomore Jackson Soos and senior Austin Harr each homered in the seventh inning and senior Dan Hennessy pitched a four-hit complete game with seven strikeouts to improve to 7-0 as the Crimson Knights (16-7) downed the Falcons (7-15). Soos finished 2-for-4 with three RBI and both John Catanio (2-for-2, three walks, one RBI) and Chris Knight (2-for-4, two runs scored) picked up a pair of hits.

Hunter Oksen doubled and scored on an RBI single by Beckett Langdon to pull Monmouth even, 1-1, in the bottom of the third inning. Catanio gave Wall the lead for good with an RBI single in the top of the fourth.

Point Beach 11, Red Bank Catholic 9

Tommy Conroy and Dan Lubach both homered during an eight-run second inning and the Garnet Gulls (14-6) hung on to topple the Caseys (17-6) in a battle between the Class A South and Class A North division champions.

Lubach hit a three-run home run to give Point Beach a 3-2 lead and Conroy capped the rally with a two-run shot on the way to finishing 3-for-4. Antonio Acevedo and Dan Coleman each went 2-for-3 in the win as well.

Miles Nessan went 3-for-4 with a double, triple and three runs scored to lead RBC while teammates Drew Cannon, Tyler Hager and Landon Laido each went 2-for-4. Hager and Cannon each drove in and scored a run, with Hager also cracking a triple. Laido doubled, scored twice and drove in a pair.

Matawan 16, Pinelands 5 (5 Innings)

Brandon Corbett went 3-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and three RBI as the Huskies (9-12) scored 15 runs in the fourth and fifth innings to turn a 5-1 deficit into a rout of the Wildcats (8-13). Lorenzo Michaud went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs and an RBI while Liam Corbett also tripled and scored a pair of runs for Matawan in helping starter Mark Fanelli improve to 6-1.

Tyler Dean belted an inside-the-park home run, Ethan Kuna tripled and scored a run, and both Sawyer Hodgdon and Victor Giorgio picked up a pair of hits and an RBI for Pinelands.

Middletown North 10, Lakewood 4

Central 2, Ocean 1

Vinny Trematerra struck out 10 with no walks in a six-hit complete game and Richie Casey drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to deliver the Golden Eagles (10-10) a road win over the Spartans (11-13).

Jack Tietjen went 2-for-3 with a double and Tommy LaVorgna was 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored to highlight the hitting attack for Central. Brian Stevens went 3-for-3 with an RBI for Ocean, which got a complete-game effort from Braden Moore on the mound. Moore allowed two unearned runs on six hits in his seven innings.

Southern 5, St. Rose 5 (11 Innings)

Lucas Ferlise tied the game with two out in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI single to rightfield, which was the last run either the Purple Roses (13-8-1) or the Rams (9-13-1) scored before darkness ended the game in an 11-inning tie. James Alesso was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI for St. Rose, which scored a run in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to erase a 5-2 deficit. Nick Ferrante doubled at the plate and pitched six shutout innings of relief with nine strikeouts, one walk and four hits allowed for the Purple Roses.

Point Boro 9, Middletown South 2

Matt Lokerson earned his first win on the mound with four innings of work and went 2-for-3 with an RBI at the plate to lead the Panthers (15-9) over the Eagles (4-17). Colton Jones was 2-for-4 with three RBI for Point Boro.

Brick Memorial 20, New Egypt 10 (5 Innings)

Dan Golembiewski slugged his Shore-Conference-leading ninth home run and also doubled in a five-RBI game that helped the Mustangs (17-7) overpower the Warriors (7-13) after New Egypt took three different leads in the top of the first, second and third innings.

Tyler Garbooshian also blasted a home run that made him Brick Memorial’s all-time leader in career hits with the 103rd of his career. Brody Moore went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI and Tyler Williams drove in three runs in a 1-for-4 game at the plate.

Justin Kramer went 2-for-3 with two doubles and four RBI and Nolan Arnold was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI to lead New Egypt.

Brick 8, Barnegat 3

Brayden Heatter crushed two of Brick’s six home runs — all in the fifth and sixth innings — during a 4-for-4 game at the plate and the Green Dragons (6-17) slugged their way to a win over the Bengals (8-15).

Heatter and James Donoghue hit back-to-back solo home runs to lead off the top of the fifth inning and pull Brick within 3-2 and Heatter hit the second of back-to-back home runs with Joe Martucci in the following inning. Winning pitcher John Renda (two scoreless innings of relief) tied the game with a solo home run with one out in the inning and Martucci’s go-ahead blast with two out made it 4-3 before Heatter went deep again for a 5-3 lead. Joe Lohmeyer finally went deep with runners on base, socking a three-run homer to cap the scoring.

Dominic Bucca hit a two-run single to give Barnegat a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and finished the game 2-for-3.

Toms River South 2, Holmdel 1

Freshman Andrew Schmidt came through with a two-out, bases-loaded single to plate Logan Weed with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh and the Indians (15-9) walked off with a win over the Hornets (9-14).

Toms River South loaded the bases with a lead-off single by Evan Schmidt, an error and a walk to Canaan Sanzone before Holmdel’s Dylan Zammit struck out the next two batters to move within one out of escaping the bases-loaded, none-out jam. He then jumped ahead of Andrew Schmidt in the count, 0-2, before Schmidt laid off three straight balls and stung a single into center to win the game.

Both teams scored in the second inning thanks to the combination of a single and a double. Raum Desai doubled and scored on an RBI single by James Murphy to give Holmdel a 1-0 lead and Canaan Sanzone answered in the bottom of the inning by doubling home Brett Rankin, who reached on a single.

Senior Jack Vallillo allowed four hits and no walks with nine strikeouts over six innings and 89 pitches in taking the no-decision for Holmdel. Senior Sean Adcock allowed four hits over the first three innings of his first varsity start, striking out one and walking none. Junior Aiden Moylan took over in the fourth and struck out nine with no walks and two hits allowed over four scoreless innings, earning him his sixth win of the season.

 

Non-Conference

Westampton Tech 12, Neptune 10

Josh Roman went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI and Julian Lemus collected three hits to help the Scarlet Fliers (7-13) put up 10 runs in the final three innings, but it was not enough to beat the Panthers. Henry Davino and Tyler Davidson each went 2-for-4 for Neptune as well, with Davino adding a double.

St. Joseph Metuchen 11, Freehold Boro 1

Tyler Kuncken helped Freehold Boro strike first with an RBI single in the top of the first inning, but the Falcons got the run back in the bottom of the inning and went on to score 11 unanswered runs to beat the Colonials (3-19), highlighted by a seven-run fourth inning.

Keyport 14, Highland Park 0 (5 Innings)

Tristan Knoblauch doubled and pitched four scoreless innings and Justin Visaggio was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI to lead the Red Raiders (14-9) in a rout over the Owls that snaps their eight-game losing streak.

Ranney 13, John Jay (N.Y.) 3 (5 Innings)

Ricky Lopez capped a 13-run outburst by Ranney with an inside-the-park grand slam in the fourth inning as the Panthers (12-11) rolled to a win over John Jay at the home ballpark of the Staten Island Ferry Hawks.
